Kaylums Kisses is an initiative developed by the family of a 5 year old boy Kaylum who sadly lost his second battle with Neuroblastoma and went to join the Angels in the sky in August 2016. To keep his name alive the family and Trustees agreed that they would set up and campaign to see this charity established. Remarkabley we have come through some tough battles but are proud to announce we have arrived. Kaylums Kisses provide 3D hand sculptures of children who are about to gain their angel wings. We will visit families at the Children's Hospice, their homes, the Hospital and even the Chapel of Rest. The sculptures provide a replica of the child's hand/foot capturing every line, crease and fingernail that no photo or video can replicate. They are painted and waxed to show every detail then mounted on a plinth with a personalised plaque, the finished item looks amazing and so life like. Initially familes are saddened and reminded of their loss. But all expressed the amount of comfort they get from these sculptures. To be able to hold their Childs hand again, to hold it to their cheek, to just look and think back on memories, to stroke and caress. Things that many of us take for granted. They are priceless and one off. We want to provide these sculptures to everyone who has to go through the trauma of losing a child (we have recently started to do them for families who have gone through the heartache of losing a child through still born), a perfect memory!!

Getting a hearing aid is just the start of the story. We work with those who have always lived in the hearing world and who now find themselves unable to communicate effectively, by offering practical help, support and guidance. We have a team of dedicated volunteers many of whom are hard of hearing themselves so can empathise as well as offer practical help. Our volunteers are trained to clean, re-tube and carry out basic maintenance on all NHS hearing aids and will spend as much time with a client as is required. They also have a wide knowledge of specialist equipment that is available to improve communication in daily life such as amplified telephones, flashing doorbells etc..We seek to increase the “deaf awareness” of families, friends and carers in order that they too may become more effective communicators.
