Kids Camps runs camps for children and young people who have an intellectual disability. Camps are a fantastic opportunity for both our kids and awesome volunteer camp leaders to get out there in the community, meet heaps of new friends, learn new skills and try new experiences. Camp also provides a vitally important service for the families of our campers. That respite time allows them to reconnect with other friends and families and take some time to recharge.

The foundation supports young people who are socially excluded and financially under-privileged, seeking to give them a second chance and hope for a better future. Now in it’s seventh year, Future2’s Make the Difference! Grants program has pledged grants of $250,000 to grassroots projects helping disadvantaged young Australians. Future2 has a strong link with financial planners and advisors who identify projects for funding, raise funds, and promote Future2’s work in the community. The Sydney Story Factory nurtures young people’s creativity and well-being through sustained personal attention to their writing. At its home in Redfern, Sydney, volunteer tutors work with students one-on-one or in small groups to write stories of all kinds, which it publishes in as many ways as possible. Programs target marginalised students, and those from Indigenous and non-English speaking backgrounds, but are open to everyone. All classes are free.

Lighthouse Foundation provides homeless young people who come from backgrounds of long term neglect and abuse with a home, a sense of family and around the clock therapeutic care. Through their Lighthouse experience, the young people heal, learn again to relate to others and rebuild their lives. Young people usually stay for 6-24 months following which they are welcome to access ongoing support through the Lighthouse Outreach and Aftercare Program at any time. There are ten Lighthouse homes in Melbourne and regional Victoria where young people are supported by live-in Carers as well as specialist therapeutic services including case management and psychological services. Lighthouse cares for up to 40 young people in our homes and over 600 young people in our Outreach Program.

Our camps create happy memories for children who have experienced abuse, neglect and abandonment. Children between the ages of 7 to 12 years are referred by psychologists and other welfare agencies. The five-day program of each camp is filled with activities designed to build trust, self-esteem and confidence within each child. All camp personnel are fully committed, experienced, trained and most importantly screened. The camp offers these children an environment that is safe and non threatening.
