Laughs for Luca (AU, 22412469452) Browse events

YTD Raised: $0.00

It has been a tough day, too much to do.  On top of business demands, there is the school drop off, activities, household chores, bills to pay, managing work and the never-ending day to day stresses.   Then imagine that none of that matters.  One of the youngest members of your family is facing a battle just to survive.  Everything you once complained about seems trivial, and those day to day worries are a welcome distraction.   We have come together to help raise much needed funds for Luca's future.  Please take a moment to read and share Luca's story and kindly donate to such a worthy cause.   This is Luca's story:   Luca was a typical 6 year old boy.  He loved playing with his friends and lived each day to the fullest.   Early April 2013 Luca started to complain about a sore right knee and presented with a slight limp. We took him to our local doctors for a check up.  The GP put it down to "growing pains" and it was normal for a boy of his age.   After a week or two we noticed that the limp became more pronounced and he was having trouble running.  So we took him to the Royal Children's Hospital for further examination.    Life has not been the same ever since.   Luca was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, on the 29th of April 2013.  This is a rare form of cancer for a child of his age.   Luca's journey to recovery would require extensive chemo to kill and reduce the tumours and ultimately some type of surgery to remove the tumours.   Our world was rocked once again when we were eventually told that Luca would require amputation in order to save our little boys life.   Luca lost his right leg just above the knee on the 1st of August 2013.   We are confident that his attitude and love of life will ensure that he will walk again.   Luca is a fighter, strong and brave.  His courage has given all who meet him hope.

On 1 September 1997, The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) was established by an act of Parliament as the successor to the first bush fire brigade, redefining the world's largest fire service and building on a century of experience in protecting some of the most fire-prone areas on earth. Today the Service comprises over 2,100 volunteer rural fire brigades with a total membership of just over 70,000. In addition, salaried staff are employed to manage the day to day operations of the Service at Headquarters, regional offices and district fire control centres.

YTD Raised: $0.00

Hamerkaz Shelanu Inc is a non-profit Jewish educational and community organization, that works in partnership with our Lamdeni Hebrew after-school program. Hamerkaz Shelanu is committed to providing ongoing excellent educational and youth programs and strives to assist young adults, families and the welfare of our community. Hamerkaz Shelanu was established in 1998, under the guidance of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, to fill a void in Victoria’s Israeli and Jewish community. Our vision is to create a deeper sense of identity, community and belonging for families, with a particular focus on the youth. Hamerkaz Shelanu is filled with a Jewish soul and an Israeli spirit. At Hamerkaz Shelanu, people of all walks of life and degrees of observance are welcome to turn to at any time - to celebrate, to learn, to socialise, to connect. For some it’s a social centre, to others an amazing holiday program and teen camp. For some it’s the “Israeli shule” or cultural library, to others their child’s Hebrew school (Lamdeni). For some it’s a memorable Bat-Mitzvah program and adult education centre, to others a place to celebrate a chag (festival) together. But, above all, for the hundreds of families entering its doors every week, it’s a home... Or in the words of a family who both tragically lost a child and celebrated a bar mitzvah with Hamerkaz Shelanu within the same year: “It is a support in time of need and a fountain in times of joy”. Hamerkaz Shelanu is dedicated to Jewish unity and continuity and to the welfare of the community. Our facilities are no longer adequate for our growing educational and community needs. We have secured a property and obtained the necessary building permits. Your contribution now, to the Building Fund, is vital to turn this dream into a reality. All donations are fully Tax Deductible. Dedication opportunities are also available. Thank you for your support. Visit us at

Lorne Community Hospital is the only hospital on the Surf Coast and, as such, has great demands placed upon its services. It relies on fundraising activities to maintain the high level of service and now looks to the Annual Appeal, and the Murray to Moyne Cycle Event, to meet its fundraising target.   The funds raised by the 2013 ‘Lorne Spinners’ team, riding on the weekend of the 6th and 7th April in the Murray to Moyne cycle event, will be used to support our Rural Health project which assists people living in rural communities, such as Lorne and surrounding towns, to improve their health and wellbeing.     The current priority is to work with local families and young people to increase after school recreational opportunities. Past projects have included very worthy initiatives to improve social connectedness and mental health, increase health programs for school aged children, and improve emergency equipment for urgent care particularly in regard to bushfires.   Health is defined as a complete state of physical, mental and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The Lorne Community Hospital is committed to the health promoting process of enabling people to feel empowered to take responsibility for their health through the implementation of programs that encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.   DONATE OR FUNDRAISE NOW BY USING THE TOOLS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE - YOUR SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
