Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.Breast Friends and Family aims to support breast cancer patients, initially at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, through diagnosis, treatment and recovery; to provide the little things that will make a difference to each individual and how they feel about themselves. We also aim to help patients and their family members deal with the challenges a cancer diagnosis brings. Breast Friends and Family has been setup by Hazel, her sister Mandy, mother Sylvia and daughter Holly. Hazel was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2015 which shocked the family but the challenges this diagnosis brought were faced with a steely determination to keep life going as normal and provide Hazel with the support she needed through treatment and recovery. The family realised that patients are supported by a number of cancer charities, each one giving additional support that patients are not even aware that they need. They began fund raising, by dancing, running, walking, knitting, sewing and organising events in support of many cancer charities.Hazel was given lots of support from a local charity based at St John’s Hospital in Livingston and as she recovered she wanted to help and support this local charity so that others like her, having a breast cancer diagnosis, were helped in the way that she was. Sadly this charity is no longer running.Hazel and her family and friends are now determined to make sure that all patients being diagnosed with cancer in St John’s are given the kind of help they don’t even realise they need. Jessica Robson was diagnosed with alveolar sarcoma cancer on the 1st of November 2010 aged 14 after finding a slight lump in her left thigh on a holiday in August the same year. After a hard 3 and half year battle with cancer she passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of the 16th of May 2014 aged 18. Jess always loved raising money and with all the fund raising she has done in the past 3 years, as a family we have raised over £28,000 for a number of charities. Jess loved when people brought presents in for Christmas and Easter eggs in for the patients. We (Jessica's sister and parents) are keeping Jessica's inspiration alive by keeping her fundraising going but now in her name. We have set up the charity 'JESSICA'S SARCOMA AWARENESS', in the memory of Jess, the money we will raise will go 25% to teenage cancer trust (a charity closest to Jessica's heart) 25% to Sarcoma UK (as jess always wanted to help beat cancer) and the other 50% will stay in the charity which I will then work out money to be able to make up presents for the other children in hospital fighting this awful disease. For example, Easter, Christmas and so on and financing days out for the patients and their families. Jessica was never selfish, always smiling and never gave up. She never deserved this awful disease but I want Jessica's spirits to live on.

Many low-income families struggle to provide meals during the school holidays. This is especially prevalent in Dundee City where over 1/3 of children are living in poverty. We support projects that are in areas of high multiple deprivation by reaching the most vulnerable children and providing them with a nutritious meal, thus reducing pressure on parents to provide food and boost community cohesion. Dundee Bairns’ was formed in 2016 by David Dorward, former Chief Executive of Dundee City Council. In October 2015 while attending the annual Rank Foundation Conference, David heard Lindsay Graham speak about her research into holiday hunger while being a Winston Church Fellow. Holiday hunger is a symptom of child poverty and in Dundee over 8000 children live below the poverty line. David wanted to ensure that Dundee children would be well nourished and ready to learn. Our core commitment is to reduce the effects of poverty for children in Dundee by trying to tackle the issue of “Holiday Hunger” during the 10 weeks of the school holidays. We support community projects around Dundee that provide activity clubs for children by supplying free lunches/ breakfasts to the clubs, ensuring that the children will receive nutritious and healthy meals. With the help of many volunteers, Tay Cuisine, schools, holiday projects and charitable funding, Dundee Bairns has delivered over 100,000 meals to children in the City of Dundee in just over 2 years.
Smile for Joel was founded by Suzanne Richards, who lost her son, brother and father in the terrorist attack in Tunisia in June 2015. This charity has been set up in their honor and in memory of all those that never came home. Funds raised go to VS to help support families effected by murder and terrorism. Our Story On 26 June 2015 Suzy's family went on holiday but her son Joel, dad Pat and brother Ade were tragically killed along with 27 other British people during a terrorist attack. Her youngest son Owen was the sole survivor and is a true inspiration. Smileforjoel has grown from strength to strength and provides very needed support to shattered/ broken families who are victims of traumatic bereavement through homicide. Suzy says “Losing three beloved members of your family to a terrorist attack is unimaginable and is something that no person should ever have to go through. Smileforjoel is a tremendous way to remember them. Through their legacy, they will bring hope to so many people’s lives. Their names will not be forgotten”. Suzy & Owen want to thank everyone for their continued support.

Whether managing ongoing mental health issues, preventing recurrence or just proactively promoting you own mental health and well being we will have an activity or activities which suit you. EDP is a small UK based charity which offers FEE FREE senior secondary education at the Awutu-Winton Senior High School to disadvantaged but academically able youngsters in Awutu, 50 miles west of Accra in Ghana. EDP believes that education is the only route out of poverty and despair, and it is the gift no child in our world should be denied! In Ghana only 45% of the population attends senior secondary school – costing close to 35% of the average per capita GDP, it is way beyond the financial reach of the majority. Therefore, EDP Directors David and Inez Lunan joined with founder Peter Donkor (a Ghanaian teacher formerly at Winton School in Andover) to address the educational needs of youth in the Awutu area by building the Awutu-Winton Senior High School.
