Sheffield Bird Study Group (UK, 510857) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Sheffield Bird Study Group was formed in December 1972 to serve the interests of birdwatchers in the Sheffield area. The group's recording area, covering twelve 10km squares with the city roughly in the middle, is hugely diverse, stretching north to the outskirts of Barnsley, south to Chesterfield, east to the lowlands beyond Rotherham and Bolsover, and west to the highest tops of the Peak District National Park. We aim to promote an interest in birds in the community, provide something of interest to all levels of birder, co-ordinate fieldwork and recording in the area, and work with and complement the work of like-minded local and national organisations for the benefit of birds. SBSG is registered charity No 510857.

Neverest Orthopaedics Foundation Cio (UK, 1177375) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Neverest Foundation UK Registered Charity Health, education and social care. Founder: Professor Rohan A Rajan President: Ms Joanna Lumley OBE The main aim of NF is to improve Orthopaedic education and training in Nepal. We have donated £3M worth of orthopaedic surgical kit over 6 years and teach in 5 hospitals. We have had 2 surgeons visit over the years and 2 special needs Paediatric physiotherapist sponsored by NF. Social programs include the building of an orphanage for 11 girls and a residential hostel for 35 disabled children, all of whom are supported by NF. NF also funded a women’s refuge after the earthquake of 2015. Our immediate target now is to build a badly needed Neverest Foundation Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Centre in Chitwan. We have secured the land but need to raise £250000 to start and complete the build. The support of Repton School cannot be underestimated over the years. The Repton Fashion show of 2018 and sale of work in 2017 raised close to £3000. The support of the board of governors, Headmaster and staff allowed NF the use of the summer marquee and grounds which raised £15000 in 2018 which paid wholly for the Special Needs Hostel this year for 35 children. This year 2 six formers accompanied NF to Nepal where they made a huge contribution. NF hopes to continue its close relationship with Repton School and provide opportunities to some pupils to join NF in Nepal yearly.

Holly Lodge Community Centre (UK, 293003) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Holly Lodge Community Centre, located on the site of a former dining pavilion on the historic Holly Lodge Estate in Highgate, North London, has two sites: The Community Centre, situated at 30 Makepeace Avenue, and Holly Lodge Nursery, located one street away in Oakeshott Avenue. The community centre is run by volunteers, both as a sub group for Holly Lodge Tenants and Residents Association, and as a charity in its own right. Since the loss of all council funding in 2013, we have set up regular activities and events for the local community, including a lunch club, which runs twice a week providing nutritious meals in a welcoming social atmosphere, a wide variety of music, astronomy, art and fitness classes, and recently, a free film club. We work in partnership with other organisations, such as Highgate Newtown Community Centre and Queen’s Crescent Community Association, as well as liaising with Camden Council to provide opportunities for young peoples' activities. We plan to expand services to include more free or low cost activities for older people, and to encourage young people to take an active interest in their community. We are funded through the National Lottery, income from classes, and voluntary donations from local residents who support our work.

The Concussion Foundation (UK, 1164229) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The need for impartial and objective research is nowhere more evident than in relation to concussion. Only through stringent and independent medical investigation will we ever establish if there is a clear correlation between recurrent head impact in sport and neurodegenerative disorders in later life. The Concussion Foundation is committed to funding research into the long-term effects of impact sport and supports the work of The International Concussion and Head Injury Research Foundation Limited (ICHIRF), a not-for-profit organisation looking at retired sportspeople age 50 and above. The ICHIRF research project involves a cohort of volunteers who have a history of concussion and a group of control subjects (matched by age and gender), who have no history of concussion. This project looks to establish if participation in impact sports can increase the risk of altered brain function in later life, and if concussion in sport can result in the early onset of confusion, depression and memory loss.
