TechnoServe works with enterprising people in the developing world to build competitive farms, businesses and industries. In order to achieve our mission, we operate as a catalyst and partner to strengthen market systems. We focus on market systems that have: TechnoServe aims to be a catalyst and partner at all points in competitive markets. We work with individuals and businesses to address market failures – the constraints that prevent a market system from operating efficiently. These constraints may include skills, technologies, availability of information, market linkages, access to finance, infrastructure, governance or policies. We address market failures in three ways: Develop Capacity: We help individuals and communities acquire skills, share knowledge and apply the technologies needed to build successful farms and businesses. Strengthen Market Connections: We coordinate among industry players and connect emerging businesses and farms to capital, networks and suppliers. Improve the Business Environment: We encourage self-sustaining economic activity by addressing the policies, information and incentives that help markets function better. In 2012 we supported over half a million farmers and over 1,500 businesses to realise more than $70M in incremental revenue, which resulted in over 9,000 new jobs and $10M in incremental wages. Together we estimate that this benefitted 2.9 million men, women and children.
Saving the Lives of Mothers & Babies in Rural Nepal Green Tara Trusts' vision is of a world in which every human can have access to basic health care and education. The charity supports poor Nepali communities to take responsibility for their own health. For 14 years we have been establishing a range of health-related services in the most disadvantaged areas of Nepal. Projects have particularly focused on improving maternal and infant survival and health. The charity has built strong working relationships with local communities, other NGOs and Nepal’s government. We also have a strong women's rights agenda and aim to empower women to know and stand up for their rights, and to reduce violence against women and girls in rural communities. By donating to Green Tara Trust you are helping to provide, amongst other things: We are extremely grateful for your donation. Please consider a regular, monthly gift if you can as this helps us to plan for the future and to sustain our work longer-term. Thank you.

1st Ightham Scout Group is a proud and active Scout Group, which began in 1912. It provides all the opportunities and activities to young people that Scouting has to offer, with access to resources which are difficult to obtain outside of the Scout Association. Run by a team of dedicated volunteers, this Group has shown nearly a hundred years of dedication to providing the best Scouting we can for the children in our care. We currently run Cubs and Scout sections for over 50 young people from Ightham and the surrounding villages. We welcome both boys and girls aged 7.5 to 14, and adults who wish to join the movement. We also have very strong links to the District Explorer Scout Units for young people aged 14 to 18. Our members enjoy a varied programme of activities to enable them to achieve badges and awards, and are offered opportunities to attend group and district events such as trips, themed activity days, sleepovers and camps. Our current priority is to raise £290 000 to replace our very old and dilapidated Group HQ to provide us with the premises we need to deliver the quality Scouting our young people want and deserve. With your help we can achieve this for Cubs and Scouts now and all the future generations in Ightham, Plaxtol, Stone Street, Shipbourne, Dunks Green and Roughway. Our centenary is fast approaching in 2012, and it would be wonderful to be able to move out of our present shed to enjoy our hundredth birthday! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9J-OWZTiI8 Affiliated/accredited to The Scout Association.

Since 2003, Ugandan children have been attending school in much larger numbers but if education is to have its desired impact, then lunchtime meals have to be made available. Our aim has always been to raise the standard of learning of children in Ugandan primary schools. Lunch4Learning was set up in 2008 to raise the standards of learning in primary schools in Uganda by helping these schools provide children with a midday meal. This is to be achieved by helping schools to grow food crops that will provide a lunch for pupils who presently go without one. We also support schools with income-generating projects. Many of these children go without breakfast and will have walked long distances to get to school where drinking water is not always available either so we also look after their water needs as best we can. A midday meal improves pupils' attendance and thus, increases attainment levels and future lives. This encapsulates Lunch4Learning’s primary objectives and reflects those of the World Bank, UNICEF and the World Food Programme. What is very different about Lunch4Learning is that it encourages sustainable agriculture and whilst helping schools to grow their own crops, it also provides hands-on opportunities for involvement of extended school communities - parents, churches etc. - to advance their children’s futures across generations. We, therefore, expect the impact of our work to be considerable, sustainable and also long term across communities. Lunch4Learning was awarded NGO status in Uganda in July 2011. Ours is an ambitious, long term, sustainable programme. By empowering schools to grow their own food and provide a daily lunch to all their pupils, we will encourage children to be successful learners and to develop practical and sustainable skills at the same time.
The International Trust for Nature Conservation is a small and highly effective Trust concentrating its funds and efforts on the preservation of wild-life and the environment. It is administered by a group of Trustees determined to contribute to the protection of parts of the world where wild life is threatened by human activity. An integral part of the Trust's activities is recognizing the needs of local communities and in particular raising awareness of the benefits of healthy habitats and wildlife populations. ITNC works for conservation in various ways. The Trust has initiated several projects which, once established, have been handed over to local groups for further successful management. The Trust operates educational programmes, species monitoring and effective anti-poaching activities. As well as its own projects, ITNC supports those of other organisations, many of these are small and important projects whose requirements are so often overlooked by larger charities. ITNC works primarily in Nepal and the Indian sub-continent.
Thank you for supporting the work of Armonía! Armonía was founded by Saul and Pilar Cruz in 1987, in one of the poorest communities in Mexico City: the Jalalpa ravine; a violent and impoverished neighbourhood to the west of the city. Founded on Christian principles, Armonía now has community centres in urban and suburban settings, as well as a student residence that hosts indigenous students from Oaxaca, a state in the south of the country. The funds that you donate will go through the Armonia UK Trust, which exists to support Armonia Mexico.

The Dawn Trust Charity was set up with the aid of the Lottery Heritage fund and many generous donations to rebuild the historic Thames “stackie” Sailing Barge Dawn to a sea going condition, maintain and exhibit her for the benefit of the nation and make her available for educational sailing trips and instruction in seamanship for the purpose of instruction of young persons in the principles of discipline, loyalty and good citizenship. SB Dawn is registered as a Dunkirk Little Ship and was damaged in Dover Harbour while taking part in Operation Dynamo. Dawn is also on the National Historic Ships Register. The hard work of rebuilding her to an operational condition is now completed and following a successful first season based at West Mersea in Essex, funding is now required for the ongoing programme of essential maintenance, accommodation improvements, heating, facilities upgrades, restoration and improvement of the original 100 year old refitted equipment. Hopefully with the help of our volunteers and donators, much of this work will be ready for next years sailing season. The aim for next year is to be fully funded and ready for a programme of events such as all the famous Thames Barge Matches where young persons can train in teams for a race crew in a unique type of vessel. Other events planned are involved with Mersea Cadet Week, Mersea and other Regattas around the East Coast, various sailing trips visiting the creeks and old barge quays such as in Bradwell where the Dawn Trust is planning to rebuild the barge quay, again with donation and Lottery funding. We even have plans as a one off to use Essex Wildlife Trust's Abbotts Hall Farm jetty for loading horse feed and hay stacked on deck to deliver for the local supplier to the Household Cavalry in London, a job the Dawn was originally built for in 1897. Let’s just hope we don’t also have to bring back the manure!

The Young Achievers Trust aims to recognise, grow and nurture exceptional young volunteers to enable them to achieve the greatest possible impact in their communities. We do this by delivering the Young Achievers Awards. Each year we search across the country to find 56 exceptional young people who have shown incredible dedication, initiative and leadership to create their own solutions to problems they have identified in their community. We are a unique award programme. Rather than simply recognising the young people who win a Young Achievers Award, we invest in them as future community leaders and change makers. We provide them with a tailored year of support and development opportunities, enabling them to develop their ambitions, talents and leadership skills.
Christians Aware is an educational, ecumenical and international charity and a member body of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland and Churches Together in England, Scotland and Wales. The charity has a network of people in Britain and around the world. The main links include Africa, India, Mauritius, the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Japan, the Philippines, the Caribbean, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The international visits are mainly to our link communities, following invitations from them. Our visits and exchanges are pilgrimages which challenge those who take part to be open and flexible, to be happy to listen and learn. They offer new experiences, new friendships, new insights and new vocations. We always keep the words of Ronald Wynne in mind. He said, ‘Do not try to teach anyone anything until you have first learnt something from them.’ Other opportunities include pilgrimages, listening days, conferences and courses, the magazine, the books. The hope of all our work is that, through encounter, listening, learning and reflection, understanding and trust may grow between people, including Christians and those of other faiths, who may then work together to overcome injustice.
Without financial support from other people, 1996 Olympic 470 Silver Medallist, John Merricks would never have been able to fulfil his ambitions and demonstrate his remarkable talent for sailing. Set up by those closest to John following his untimely death, The John Merricks Sailing Trust seeks to help other young sailors (under 25) achieve their goals. Since 1997 the John Merricks Sailing Trust, a registered charity, has supported youth sailing by awarding grants to deserving individuals, clubs and youth organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to sailing and financial need. The John Merricks Sailing Trust is proud to be Supporting Youth Sailing in the United Kingdom.

Caring In The Heart of Camden Imagine having no-one to help you in times of need or sickness. Who would you turn to? Who can offer a helping hand? The only answer for many people living in Camden, young or old, is the St Pancras Welfare Trust. The object of the Trust is to help residents of the former Metropolitan Borough of St Pancras when faced with need or sickness and have nowhere else to turn. A separate trust, the Camelot Trust, supports holidays and school trips for disadvantaged young children. The area of benefit of both trusts lies within the heart of the London Borough of Camden and includes some of the most densely populated parts of the borough, many with high indicators of poverty and need. The most common request is to help people being re-housed - perhaps after years of living rough, living in a hostel or after leaving an institution. They have no resources or possessions and their new homes are usually cold and bare. We help by making small grants in cash or vouchers to buy furniture, bedding and clothes. We also receive requests to help young mums and their children, the frail and elderly and those in need of respite. During the year ending 31st March 2013 we made 164 grants totalling £23,577. An analysis of grants shows that they directly affected a total of 838 individuals. Beneficiaries included 9 pensioners, 23 persons suffering mental health problems, 26 persons with disabilities, 16 families being re-housed and 11 families seeking asylum. Your donation or legacy will make an enormous difference. Thank you
