We have a proud tradition and are responsible for offering scouting to all areas of Barnstaple, with the exception of Pilton and Bickington. Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Awareness For Autism UK (AFA:UK) was founded in July 2013, with the aim and vision of providing support to other families living with autism. It soon became apparent that there was so much we were able to do - and therefore set out to make AFA:UK a registered charity. Off the back of this, we run very successful autism friendly football sessions weekly and have trialled and run  autism friendly cinema and soft play sessions; which now run up to a dozen times a year. Our aim is to stimulate enquiry and promote active discovery through participation and partnership, widening access to and appreciation of the value of heritage. We work with researchers, experts and a dedicated volunteer team to help local people to explore and understand their own heritage, working on archaeological projects and investigating the thousands of artefacts and data that we have in our care at any one time. The flagship foreshore, coastal and intertidal archaeology projects, the Thames Discovery Programme and CITiZAN (Coastal and Inter-Tidal Zone Archaeology Network), coordinate the invaluable efforts of over 500 volunteers. Our volunteers capture unique records of the archaeological structures and finds along these fragile areas that are under threat of active erosion and loss. None of this work would be possible without the help of our supporters, and we are very grateful for your donations.
