YTD Raised: £0.00Friends of St Luke’s supports St Luke’s School for Special Educational Needs, a “very” special school attended by children from the ages of 7 to 17 from all over Hertfordshire and neighbouring counties. All of our children have a wide range of Special Educational Needs with just under half of our children under Great Ormond Street Hospital. Our children’s disabilities and learning difficulties include Autism, Downs Syndrome, Dyslexia and Global Development Delay. Although none of our children attends due to physical disability, many our children have a physical disability alongside their Special Educational Needs. Nearly 50% of our children come from financially disadvantage backgrounds, some in care, fostered and many have parents with Special Needs themselves. St Luke’s is one of the lowest funded Special Educational Needs School in Hertfordshire, with 92% of our Local Authority funding is used for the necessary high ration of staff, leaving 8% to cover everything from toilet roll to books. Therefore, even necessities at the school are a fundraising issue. We are trying all possible avenues to raise these funds, as well as raising awareness of our school and Special Educational Needs.
