(UK, 1174728) Browse eventsRestoration starting with rest:Our vision is to help homeless people in Greater Manchester to make a new start in life.We do this by helping them to stay engaged in the re-homing process by providing them with somewhere comfortable, warm and safe for them to sleep, with facilities to wash themselves and their clothing. We also offer informal opportunities to learn life skills, such as managing finances and restoring relationships, and provide help to find employment. We also have interest from barbers and musicians and other people who would like to add value to the experience. As Christians, we attempt to share our faith with our guests in the shelter because we believe that the love and hope found through faith in Jesus will transform their lives like nothing else can. Embassy is founded by Christians as an opportunity to demonstrate and explain God’s love to those who are most in need. However, it is important to note that although Embassy is a Christian charity, the shelter welcomes equally whoever is referred to us by resettlement workers, of any faith or none.We have purchased a double-decker tour bus - the Embassy Bus - that has been fitted out to provide comfortable, private beds for 14 guests and 2 staff plus a toilet, kitchenette and seating area. We have chosen a bus because it costs a fraction of what a building would cost, we pay no rates and need no planning permission to run a shelter on a bus. Also, of course, a bus can also be moved to a different part of the city if needed. It costs around £86,000 a year to operate the Embassy Bus, including salaries for staff who stay on the bus overnight to ensure that everyone gets a peaceful night’s sleep. All of this amount comes from donations. If you share our vision of helping homeless people to make a new start in life then please consider supporting by making a donation. Thank you.
