(UK, 1129095) Browse eventsAdoption Focus is a registered voluntary adoption agency. We help people become adopters to children who need new families. This is often because of physical abuse and neglect. The children may have experienced domestic violence and witnessed drug use and alcohol abuse. To keep them safe, and to give them the opportunity of loving, secure and permanent family life, they need adopters who will give them back their childhood. To be able to do this, the adopters need professional support and preparation. Adoption Focus provides this. We have social workers based in offices in the Midlands, Oxfordshire and Staffordhsire. We place children from all over the UK. We need to fundraise to support our work with adopters and their children. We have social workers who will support adoptive parents in helping their children during the times when their difficult early life experiences catch up with them. We help the children to make sense of the reasons why they were adopted. Our work with adoptive families cannot be time-limited. Any money raised is used to support our adopters and their children.
Our Scout Troop is called the 17th St Albans Group. Scouting is about fun, challenge and adventure. Scouting actively engages and supports young people (of all genders) in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. At the 17th, we have an active group of young people who meet weekly in our Scout hut. The Group has a strong emphasis on outdoor activity: camping, orienteering, hiking, camp fire cooking, physical challenges, assault courses, archery, water sports and many more activities. Scouts are encouraged to take responsibility, embrace adventure and take on leadership roles during their time with the Group. We are always in need of funds to support these activities, particularly funds for new tents and cooking equipment.

(UK, 510857) Browse eventsSheffield Bird Study Group was formed in December 1972 to serve the interests of birdwatchers in the Sheffield area. The group's recording area, covering twelve 10km squares with the city roughly in the middle, is hugely diverse, stretching north to the outskirts of Barnsley, south to Chesterfield, east to the lowlands beyond Rotherham and Bolsover, and west to the highest tops of the Peak District National Park. We aim to promote an interest in birds in the community, provide something of interest to all levels of birder, co-ordinate fieldwork and recording in the area, and work with and complement the work of like-minded local and national organisations for the benefit of birds. SBSG is registered charity No 510857.

(UK, 1139614) Browse eventsThe aim of the Christian Blandford fund is to improve the comfort of children and their families, particularly those affected by cancer, during prolonged stays in local NHS hospitals. This is how the lovely people at Post Pals described us “they realised a lot of people support the main children’s or cancer hospitals yet the local hospitals which children spend a lot of time in with infections or for transfusions rarely get support. They decided instead of fundraising for huge items they instead would do the little things others don’t think of, like buying decent curtains for the children’s ward so the kids no longer wake up at sunrise in the summer – a truly wonderful charity working away quietly at improving families quality of life.”
