Save Sacred Heart School, Swaffham from TV's 'Bad Habits, Holy Orders' (UK, 237760) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Sacred Heart is a wonderfully nurturing environment for a diverse community of children. It is an environment like no other due in part to the school motto 'Service Before Self' being truly alive in every child from 3 through 16. It has a unique approach thanks to the Sisters and staff members working together to foster a safe space for all learners and all abilities. Over the years the school has moved from being a predominantly fee-paying school to one where many families and students would have been unable to benefit from our wonderful school and facilities without the aid of bursaries. The Sisters who help run the school (many of whom featured in Bad Habits, Holy Orders first broadcast on Channel 5 in 2017) have subsidised the school over the past few years as the social and economic landscape around us has changed, by selling off assets such as properties in order for the school to continue. Sacred Heart School believed the way forwards was to convert to a Free School under professional advise, and put great energies and time in to doing so. Sadly however, this was not possible as the Free School criteria was changed after the snap election in summer 2017 and Sacred Heart no longer met the requirements. Sacred Heart is now in the position where if nothing else changes the entire school will close it's doors in July 2019. We desperately wish to continue this offering, and greatly appreciate all donations made to help save our school.

YTD Raised: £0.00

Our work in BuryIn the Bury Metropolitan area we currently support around 300 families and individuals providing them with over 60,000 hours of support each year, helping carers make a life of their own outside caring, but there is much more that we could do if we can raise the funds.Fighting Carer Burnout. At present there are many more Carers than there are resources for them to get a regular break, which is why so many Carers eventualy have to stop their caring role simply due to their own ill health.  Crossroads aim is to provide support for Carers to stop them being overwhelmed  by the stress of caring and to stop Carers burning out and becoming ill. Every penny we raise through supporters like you goes into the work of supporting Carers or the people they care for. This ranges from provide emergency care hours to support Carers in crisis, through to projects for people with dementia and their Carers.   NationallyDid you know Crossroads Care is Britains leading provider of social care? In 2010/11 we provided 5,180,818 hours of care..that's the equivalent of >591 years of care!  Who is a Carer?A carer is anyone who (unpaid) looks after a person, be that a family friend, child, or neighbour who is; disabled; ill with a life limiting illness; has a mental illness, or substance abuse problem, where that person could not manage without that support. Exhausted Carers need a break.A significant number of such Carers provide more than 50 hours of care every week, and without the services of Crossroads Care they may never get a regular break to have some time to themsevles. Many other Carers, who may not do as many hours each week, have been caring for someone seven days a week for up to 10 years or more. People not profitAs a charity, we care for people not for profit. Our Support Staff love their work, they understand what Carers and those they care for need. They know its the simple things that really matter, they do the unpleasant jobs with a smile and take pleasure in working hard to fit into family life.Thats why Crossroads Care are the people Carers turn to.Fully trained staff - Flexible serviceOur fully trained staff provide Carers with regular time to themselves, be that daily, overnight, weekly, or ad-hoc as required. All our support plans are tailor made to fit the Carer and the people they support.Age, illness, condition, no problemWe provide services to anyone with care needs, be that a child with a disability, a teenager with learning difficulties, adults with life limiting illness, or conditions like dementia. We also provide palliative care for people at the end of life. Whatever the challenge Crossroads Care Bury can cope, and we can do more with your help, so please give generously so we can help others in need.Crossroads Care Bury was awarded 3*** "Excellent" by the Care Quality Commission on our latest inspection in 2010.  Visit our Facebook page Follow XrdsCareBury on Twitter
