(UK, 1123886) In 2008, The Wish Tree Charity was founded by 3 mothers within the village of Flamstead. Originally, its' aim was to support those Flamstead families with dependants, where a family member was facing serious illness or death. By funding the provision of childcare, domestic help and transport, The Wish Tree Charity helps the family unit to continue to operate as normally as possible in such difficult times. The Wish Tree has received such overwhelming support for its work, that this year it has decided to expand its constitution to encompass funding for any Flamstead resident (- whether they have dependants or not), following the recent diagnosis of a serious illness/ operation/death. Funds are provided through an annual fundraising event, personal donations and sponsored events.

The inclusivity of scouting, which welcomes children from all backgrounds, has been proven to instil a positive role in adulthood. The benefits of learning 'soft' skills through Scouting, including teamwork and self-reliance, coupled with frequently being outdoors in natural environments requires funding to run it and to make it inclusive for all.
