(UK, 1096562) Browse eventsThe Dore Foundation aims to improve the lives of people who have difficulties with learning. It is a grant giving organisation with a particular focus on supporting early interventions for children with special educational needs (SEN). As such, it works collaboratively with schools and other partners to provide access to the Dore Programme, a personalised programme of daily physical exercises for people with learning difficulties and SEN such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and ADHD. It is estimated that one in five of us struggle to learn. The pressures to belong and to achieve are consistently promoted, yet the gulf between those who have difficulties with learning and everyone else is still evident. Today’s educational system isn’t working for a significant number of children, many of whom lack the support or resources to do anything about it. We want to help bridge the gap wherever we can to provide real support for those in need and give children the opportunity to achieve and a belief in their own ability.

The team delivers projects in collaboration with different communities across the UK to bring about real social change. Founded in 2008, it was awarded charitable status in January 2016. On Road’s early work focused on training charities and the communities they work with in media skills, so they could tell their own stories. Since 2011, the charity has worked more closely with communities on collaborative projects. That includes the award-winning All About Trans project, improving the portrayal of trans people in the media, Angles: A Different Take On Sexual And Domestic Abuse, and two new programmes on the representation of people who experience poverty and young people with irregular immigration status. The Hockey Museum (THM) is a relatively new organisation whose aim is to preserve, share and celebrate the rich heritage and history of the sport of hockey, not only in Britain where the modern game started, but also from all round the world. The Museum is now home to a growing collection of hockey archives, artefacts and memorabilia.
