Yet, refugees and migrants are often prevented from contributing due to the hostile environment; by barriers to legal work and free and safe movement, by language barriers and by discrimination in healthcare and education.

Theatre Alibi are contemporary storytellers, creating work for all ages that moves freely between the intimate and the epic and aspires to be inventive, joyful, moving, vivid, intricate and ambitious. Our productions are marked by a passion for the live event - actors as storytellers absolutely present with their audience, live music, a delight in revealing acts of transformation that would often be confined to the wings and a level of inventiveness that allows us to embrace action that might seem to be unstageable. The company integrates a wide variety of art forms into its work and recent productions have featured animation, film, puppetry, photography and music both live and recorded. A lot of the work that Theatre Alibi does can never pay for itself. We're very grateful for funding from Arts Council England and Exeter City Council to support our work. But it’s not quite enough and in future is likely to become much less. Any donation big or small that you can make to Theatre Alibi, either in the form of a one-off donation or a monthly direct debit, will help us continue creating imaginative, original work for the broadest possible audience. The Gordon Howard MBE Memorial Trust (UK, 1178887) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

The Gordon Howard MBE Memorial Trust was set up in 2018 in memory of Major Gordon Howard, who dedicated his life to caring for the elderly in Zimbabwe. With the founder Sir Athol Evans, he set up and grew the Athol Evans Hospital Home (now Athol Evans Complex) from a small frail care ward to a unique facility in Harare offering three levels of care to those who are sick, elderly, frail and vulnerable, and those in need of respite and rehabilitation. He campaigned for the elderly in Zimbabwe and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of pensioners, ultimately being recognised for his work with an MBE from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2008. The Trust was set up after Major Howard’s death to support the work that he started by supporting homes in Zimbabwe which in turn care for the elderly. Pensioners in Zimbabwe have suffered immensely over the years due to hyperinflation, and ongoing economic difficulties. Unfortunately there are little or no social services to help older people and many rely on care homes to survive. These homes rely on funding and donations to keep going.
