Charlotte Miller Art Project (UK, 1064645) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Charlotte Miller Art Project, cmap is an international arts programme that works towards improving the lives of some of the most disadvantaged and stigmatised young people in Latin America. In some of the world’s toughest cities, children are spending the whole of their young lives either working or living on the streets. Many of these children suffer appalling domestic or social trauma. Through the international language of art, a language that can inform, amuse, shock and inspire real change, we work to give these children a break from their immediate circumstances in a creative and stimulating atmosphere. Our workshops develop their communication and practical creative skills and the ability to go on and make use of those skills in the future. They develop the foundations for a lifelong sense of confidence.

Headway West Suffolk (UK, 1145962) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

West Suffolk Headway is a rehabilitative support service for people with an acquired brain injury and those who care for them. The charity offers advice, support, rehabilitation and day services to anyone (over the age of 16) who has, during their lifetime, suffered a brain injury through traumatic accident, stroke, virus, tumour or other similar event. Based in Bury St Edmunds, its service supports people across the regions of west Suffolk and south Norfolk. Annually, an estimated 135,000 people are admitted to hospital as a consequence of a brain injury. The effects of the condition are often devastating and can include physical disability, memory loss, speech problems and rapid mood changes. Working to a bespoke care plan and within a rehabilitative framework, members are supported in individual and group-based activities specifically designed to help relearn skills that may have been lost as a result of the injury. Some will return to work, either paid or voluntary. Others may access further education. For most, increasing their daily independence and improvement of life will be their goal. Each year the charity is tasked with raising £30,000 through essential fundraising and the generosity of public donations to ensure the continuation of the service. Therefore, the importance of support given by each and every individual can never be underestimated.

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Right Choice Academy enables young people to take part in activities that may otherwise be inaccessible or unknown to them due to social, economic or personal disadvantage. These positive experiences will engage, motivate and inspire them to realise their full potential.RCA offers an experience in which young people can discover so much about themselves and what they are capable of achieving in a challenging environment through their own efforts. Many of the young people we will work with are low educational achievers and a lack of self-esteem means they have no belief in their ability to change the course of their lives for the better. They lack confidence in their own ability, find it difficult to communicate and relate with others, and to maintain relationships.A number of the young people are from areas of social and economic deprivation, both urban and rural. A proportion have emotional or behavioural problems, are resistant to authority or even advice, and are hard to reach and engage with. Some of the young people are from troubled family backgrounds, and that includes those who are in or have been in care, are young carers or are victims of abuse.
