YTD Raised: £6,379.50

The aim of SPACE is to provide a local, fun, safe and accessible environment in which children with disabilities and additional needs can play. Also opportunities for parents and carers to meet and provide mutual support. The charity has been founded by mums who have children with disabilities and additional needs. Through our own experience we have found that there is very little support for families with young children with disabilities/additional needs and locally there are no accessible play areas. Our goal is to increase the support and opportunities through continuing to provide our 'stay and play', 'little stars' and parent support sessions. We aim to raise enough money to open our own centre so that we can support more children and their families.

Tony Barnard Foundation (UK, 1136753) Browse events

YTD Raised: £6,373.79

Opportunities for all - TBF seeks to open doors for children and adults with learning difficulties who may have their opportunities to develop or to enhance their life skills thwarted through lack of funds. The Tony Barnard Foundation was formed in memory of Tony Barnard.Tony suffered a massive brain trauma and adapted to life as a disabled man for over twenty years. He endured several months of total blindness and he learned how to cope in his dark world.  This equipped him with new and different strategies with which to face life. Tony had been a very successful business man prior to his trauma and was a great believer in the power of the marketing and networking tools. Having lost the use of 50% of his body Tony never allowed the disability to constrain his desire to continue to network and support, encourage and help others. Tony made often made friends of those who found friendship a struggle.  He understood what it was to have your confidence shattered and your world shrink through trauma. Working together The aim of the Foundation is to support in whatever way we can. The Foundation will raise funds that can be distributed to open doors for some and take the pressure off others. None of the money raised will go to employ people—all the money raised will be to offer direct relief or to offer individuals, groups or families opportunities to enhance their quality of life. Who will benefit We will aim to support those with a learning difficulty to enable them to be more independent and to have the opportunity to participate in the community in which they live.

Harold Dean Charity - Number 266850 (UK, 266850) Browse events

YTD Raised: £6,371.47

Located on the edge of the busy market town of Harleston in South Norfolk, the Harold Dean Charity (HDC) owns two of the Fishing Lakes at the Weybread Pits in Mid Suffolk, the Number 1 and Middle Pit and currently leases a third and the largest: the Ocean. The Ocean Lake has now been put up for sale. We are currently fundraising to complete an Option to purchase the Ocean before 31 December 2025. We have raised funding pledges of £243,000 but still need a further £172,000 to complete our purchase option in time. Success will see us continuing to shoulder the main responsibility for this unique site and will ensure that the community can enjoy access in perpetuity. Through its active stewardship of the lakes in partnership with the Harleston and Wortwell District Angling Club, the Weybread Sailing Club and other individuals and agencies HDC has also been able to keep this natural haven intact for more than half a century for the enjoyment of many hundreds of local people. Recognised as an important site for wildlife, it has been designated a County Wildlife Site, there is nowhere comparable in this part of East Anglia. The modest surplus generated from the current activities are distributed to local charities by HDC.

Safe Passage International (UK, 1179608) Browse events

YTD Raised: £6,370.98

Nearly half of all refugees are children and more than ever before are unaccompanied, having lost family members along the way or been forced to flee alone. On their journey to reach a place of safety, these children are often vulnerable to trafficking and subject to violence and abuse. Many are forced to sleep rough or live in desperately inadequate accommodation. It doesn't have to be like this. Many refugee children have a legal right to travel to a place of sanctuary, whether it’s to be reunited with family or to be protected from harm because of their extreme vulnerability. Safe Passage has teams in Greece, Italy and France working to reunite refugee children with their families in the UK and Europe. We help to open and strengthen safe and legal routes to protection for refugee children, then support their first steps to rebuilding their lives. We do this through a unique combination of legal work and campaigning. More than 1,700 children have travelled through routes we have helped to open since we began work in 2015.
