(UK, 1130671) Browse eventsCountless families, children and younger and older people have many happy memories of the Parish Hall in its unique setting near the lovely water meadows of St Cross. The handsome Edwardian structure was presented to the parishioners of St Faith by Canon the Hon. Alan Brodrick, Master of St Cross, and his wife in memory of their son George. Nowadays the PCC of St Cross with St Faith leases the building from the Hospital of St Cross on the understanding that the parish will be responsible for its maintenance. A committee manages the building on behalf of the PCC of St Cross with St Faith. The Parish Hall is host to a wide variety of clubs, societies and businesses, all of which bring great benefit to the St Cross community. Among these are an art group, the Brownies, two youth theatre groups, a martial arts club, the Nancy Harper Nursery, the Painters Field Association, the Platform School of Dance, Winchester Floral Design Society, the St Cross Fellowship, the St Cross Drama Group, the St Cross Garden Society, the Mothers’ Union and the ABC toddlers’ group. We need your help to raise funds to update our facilities. Although letting income covers day-to-day outgoings and general maintenance, separate funds are needed for more significant refurbishment work. Winchester City Council and the Town Fund have given us a generous grant of £6,000 towards the £14,700 cost of replacing an inefficient heating system and reordering the male lavatories, and we have undertaken to raise the balance of £8,700 by April 2011. Any contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated, and your generosity will enable us to bring the facilities of this vital community resource up to twenty-first-century standards. We do hope you will feel able to support the Parish Hall.
