Our aim is "To maintain simple shelters in remote country for the use and benefit of all who love wild and lonely places" The MBA was founded in 1965, and now maintains around 100 shelters, the majority of them in Scotland but some in Wales and Northern England. Almost all are privately owned and made available by courtesy of the owners. Our work, which costs £150,000 per year, is financed by our 3,500 members and by donations from the public. In June 1983 Rosemount was opened as a charity. With the help of many Christian friends Rosemount began to flourish. Today the same pride and attention to care is provided by the staff and we are raising money to contribute towards the upkeep and refurbishment, ensuring this great cause runs on for years to come.
