Priscilla Bacon Lodge Support Group (UK, 278667) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

WE ARE A CHARITY WHICH SUPPORTS THE WORK CARRIED OUT AT THE PRISCILLA BACON CENTRE FOR PALLIATIVE CARE IN NORWICH. WE SEEK TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THOSE IN NEED BY SUPPORTING THE NURSES, DOCTORS, THERAPISTS, FAMILIES AND CARERS, AS WELL AS THE PATIENTS WHO USE THE CENTRE. The Priscilla Bacon Centre for palliative care in Norwich is a hospice, serving patients with advanced cancer and other terminal illnesses.  The hospice was officially opened in 1979 by the Duchess of Kent.  The hospice has been funded through a combination of charitable donations and NHS grants ever since. The Priscilla Bacon Lodge Support Group, administered by an outside board of trustees, is ONLY funded by members subscriptions, donations and legacies.  We help patients and their families by providing quickly those ‘extras’ which can improve the quality of life in times of difficulty; things which the NHS often find hard to supply. An elected committee meets monthly to respond to requests from doctors, nurses, and carers for special things like a new bed at home, a much needed holiday for a patient or carer, replacing a broken washing machine or fridge, medical or nursing equipment and specialist chairs or mattresses. We also pay for private ambulances to enable some patients to return home for a few hours. The Group also finances other services including the coffee bar, car mileage for volunteer drivers and the training of bereavement visitors.  In addition, the multidisciplinary staff is financially assisted to attend conferences and training courses, and books and medical publications are provided for study purposes. We are able to access funds at short notice.  We are also able to fund new projects which can be adopted by the NHS at a later date or provide emergency assistance when NHS funds are not immediately available.

Welcome to Norton Pre-School's MyDonate fundraising page.  Norton Pre-School is a not-for-profit charity providing Early Years education for two to five year olds and has been operating very successfully since the 1970s. As a charity, the Pre-School relies upon the proceeds of regular fundraising events and activities in order to keep fees low and to provide the best possible facilities and resources for children attending the Pre-School, Breakfast and After-School Clubs.  Over the years, Norton Pre-School has known several homes in Norton, the current one being of a temporary construction and nearing the end of its intended lifespan. Therefore, our current fundraising goal is to raise sufficient funds to be able to replace this with a new and improved permanent building. This is a huge but necessary undertaking which will benefit all children using the Pre-School’s invaluable services for years to come. Please help in any way you can.  Charity No: 1020883 Find out more Website https://www.nortonpre-school.co.uk/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/NortonPreSchoolEvents/

Shetland Care Attendant Scheme (UK, SC020042) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

SCAS employ Care Attendants to go into carers homes to look after their loved one/dependant so that they can have a well deserved break from their caring role. The carers can use this time as they wish: catch up on sleep, have a rest, get their shopping, meet friends or attend appointments. Carers’ health and wellbeing is improved greatly from having a regular break to look forward to and enjoy with peace of mind that their loved one/dependant is being kept safe and well looked after. The ‘cared for’ people also benefit from this as it greatly improves their health and wellbeing by seeing someone different, having more social interaction and if they are able, our Care Attendants often take them out into the community for a drive in the car, or to café’s. Anyone can refer a carer to us or carers can contact us themselves for support. Our fundraised monies and donations are used to pay towards the services we provide. We cover all areas of Shetland.

The New Bridge Foundation (UK, 1103511) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

New Bridge creates links between the offender and the community. We befriend prisoners and provide mentors to help maintain a crime free life on release. New Bridge trains volunteers to befriend and encourage prisoners.  Many feel lonely, cut off, angry or depressed and want a listening ear, a non judgemental mind with which to engage or just news of the outside world.  We run a mentoring project based in the Merseyside area. In London, New Bridge runs London Through The Gate a befriending service aimed at short term prisoners, many of whom have led chaotic lives with frequent spells in custody.  Volunteers work in pairs to help offenders make the right choices about their lifestyle that prevent a return to prison. Your generous donation will help us maintain and develop our befriending and mentoring services so that more prisoners are given a greater chance of a positive, crime free life. Thank you so much for your support.
