(UK, 1147922) The Aloud Charity is the umbrella organisation which devises, manages and delivers the activity of Only Men Aloud, Only Boys Aloud and Only Kids Aloud. It exists to encourage participation in choral singing at all ages and for all abilities in order to continue and re-invigorate the Welsh choral tradition delivered in a contemporary innovative style and predominantly through the formation of choirs. The work of the charity particularly with regard to Only Boys and Only Kids Aloud has a social agenda also, aiming to encourage an ethos of aspiration in these young people, many of whom come from challenging social backgrounds with a significant number suffering extreme financial deprivation. With a membership of approximately 180 singers, Only Boys Aloud is the largest initiative of the Charity and since it began in 2010 has made a great impact on the lives of its young singers - boys aged 14-19 who come from communities across South Wales from Tredegar to Cardiff and Cwmbran to Cross Hands. “It feels great to be part of such a huge group, it feels good to meet people and make friends that I can talk to comfortably. I have never prided myself on social skills and I never seem to have as many close friends as other people do. OBA means a lot to me and if I could sing with the choir for the rest of my life then I would” current OBA member Each week 10 regional choirs meet to rehearse locally, mentored by members of Only Men Aloud, and join together to become a mega choir - the world's biggest boy band - at regular intervals to rehearse and perform at venues large and small. OBA wants to keep our young men singing, continuing the fantastic Welsh male voice choral tradition. It also exists to make a difference and inspire our boys to get involved, take pride in themselves and their communities and realise that opportunities are out there for them regardless of their backgrounds or personal circumstances. A choir and scheme the size of OBA comes with a large price tag attached but we are determined that it should be accessible to all regardless of personal circumstances and so membership of the choir remains entirely free for the boys. With the cost of running the 10 regional choirs standing at over £2,000 weekly and our average bus bill over £100,000, we need your help to keep the choirs going. YTD Raised: £0.00Epsom & Ewell Phab Club (Epsom Phab) is an inclusive youth club for young people with and without disabilities. It currently has 120 members aged 8 to 16 years with over 20 Young Volunteers. Each friday evening an average of 80 youngsters attend club evenings where they take part in sports, arts, crafts, drama, games and dance. All activities are available to everyone, on equal terms. There is a lively programme of outings and events and an annual activity holiday. The club is entirely run by volunteers, ensuring no staffing costs. All money raised is used to provide activities for the young people.

YTD Raised: n/aEstablished in 1974 by two St Albans residents, SADTN is committed to helping local blind and partially sighted residents keep in touch with what is going on in their local community. SADTN produces a weekly audio programme, containing news stories from the local papers (recorded by volunteer readers), longer articles from regional and national magazines (with permission of the publishers), monthly events and entertainment preview, audio book reviews, interviews, items about local natural and social history - and more! Each listener is provided on free loan with a playback unit (boombox) and receives a memory stick by post using the Royal Mail 'Articles for the Blind' free postal service. Almost 100 volunteers (readers, editors, sound engineers, copy teams, distribution secretaries) are able to provide this all-year-round service to around 110 listeners in all parts of the District (St Albans, Harpenden and all the surrounding villages). The most important message is: 'Do you know someone - family, friend or neighbour - who might enjoy this totally free service if only they knew it is available to them?'
