YTD Raised: £0.00

We are a Holistic Health Care registered in 1982 we grew in response to the Aids crisis. We now see people with many conditions such as cancer and depression with a specific emphasis on serving the marginalized and excluded. Testimonial: ‘Helios does a very good job at providing evidence-based treatment at a fraction of the cost, is well-established, and saves the general public significant expenditure through off-setting more serious care in hospital. Furthermore, I am unaware of any community organisation more deserving of support to provide these services’ Dr Rupert Whitaker, Founder of the Terrence Higgins Trust

YTD Raised: £0.00

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. We are a UK based charity set up for the advancement of education of people resident within the boundaries of the Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary, Ghana, or surrounding areas by the provision of educational materials, funding of teachers and supplies and at the discretion of the trustees the provision of scholarships for individuals to extend their education and training. Please donate to support our cause. The Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary is situated in an area of Ghana of extreme poverty where the local leaders and community representatives manage the sanctuary on a community based natural resource based model. They need support to ensure the next generation are educated to continue their dual goal of biodiversity and poverty alleviation. Our scholarship programme assists young people to attend Senior High School and to continue their studies to gain a professional qualification in teaching or health care. We also provide one primary school with some much needed educational supplies. We could do much more if we had more funds. Vale Of Glamorgan Festival Limited (UK, 519044) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Unique in the UK, the Vale of Glamorgan Festival presents an annual programme of classical music featuring works by living composers only which sets it apart from other festivals.  The festival brings to Wales an international roster of great artists, ensembles and composers presenting a programme of concerts, talks and workshops where the composers themselves rub shoulders with audiences and share their passion for the best of new music. Over a ten-day period, the 2014 Festival will feature artists from Belgium, Denmark, Ireland and the UK including choirs, orchestras and smaller chamber groups in a range of beautiful historic buildings and also state-of –the art concert halls.  Composers from the performers’ home countries will feature as well as extended profiles of the work of the late Sir John Tavener and Tarik O'Regan.   Keeping music alive, the festival is committed to directly supporting composers and commissions new work each year which will premiere during the festival – in 2014 this includes a new work by Gabriel Jackson "Zero Point Reflection" which will be premiered by Juice Vocal Ensemble.  We are able to present our ambitious programme thanks to generous funding from the Arts Council of Wales and Vale of Glamorgan Council whose support amounts to 56% of the overall cost of the festival.  It is our job to raise the remaining 44% from trusts and foundations, international organisations, ticket sales and donations. With a target of £14,000 this year to raise from individual supporters, please consider supporting the 2014 festival.  You can support the costs of a new commission (see Zero Point Reflection) or become a Festival Friend by clicking on the links on the left of the page, or alternatively if your prefer make a one-off or regular payment by clicking "Make a Donation" button to the right!  Every single penny helps us in our work. Thank you for your support! For full details of the 2014 Festival please visit our website:  www.valeofglamorganfestival.org.uk

Our mission is to save and improve lives of individuals with anorexia nervosa and their families by: Our message is that anorexia nervosa (AN) is a condition a person is genetically predisposed to have.  It  is triggered by weight loss which, in turn, can be initiated by a variety of factors. It is neither a lifestyle choice nor a condition that can be afflicted by families or society. Scientific research has proven that AN has genetic components. This understanding is essential for two main reasons: The AN process is well understood: while most people can afford to diet and lose weight throughout their lives, individuals predisposed with AN need to realize that weight loss may result in an out-of-control psychobiological spiral, leading to even further weight loss. The possible implications of this weight loss should be realised and acepted by sufferers, family and friends who should also celebrate the high achieving personality traits and sensitive nature often associated with those predisposed to AN.

FreyaBeya (UK, 1118186) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Freya was a beautiful little girl, born in 1999 with several life-limiting conditions. She was never expected to see her 1st birthday but she celebrated 5 birthdays, each one with a big noisy party in the garden.  She communicated in her own special way, mostly by touch and she had the most infectious giggle. Her gorgeous rose-bud lips were adorable and they framed a fabulous smile. She was a joy to spend time with and everyone who met her could not stop themselves falling in love with her. Freya died on the 14th December 2004, at home surrounded by lights, music, and her family. She leaves behind a fantastic big brother Tom and has left a huge gap in our lives, one that we will never fill. Freya loved music and it became a huge part of our life, it provided valuable therapy for her and always soothed her if she was in pain. In Freya’s memory I have set up a charity called FreyaBeya which raises money to enable special needs school to buy in live music. The Arts are sadly very much forgotten within the narrow constraints of the National Curriculum!  FreyaBeya gives total freedom to teachers to introduce children to ANY type of music, allowing it to be child-led rather than curriculum-led. THIS IS A HUGE PLUS!!  The music ranges from Soundabout-type stuff (resonance boards right through to high-tech sound beams) through to any type of genre, depending on what motivates the child. Thank you for supporting FreyaBeya   Sarah-Jayne -  Freya’s Mama.

Invisible Children (UK, 1128466) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Invisible Children uses the power of media to inspire young people to help end the longest running war in Africa. Our model has proven effective, and hundreds of thousands of people have been called to action through our films and the volunteers that tour them.   Our approach to humanitarian work is founded in the strength and intelligence of the Ugandan community. We learned early on it was not only important but essential to heed the wisdom of people that had not only lived in the war, but were surviving it. People who would know better than anyone what the greatest needs were and the best ways to meet them.   What we came to find is that while there have been many efforts to address the issues that stem from living and fighting in such a long-lasting war, the people of Uganda are asking for a future beyond the conflict. Their pleas have become our development strategy.   All of our programming is a partnership between those of us at Invisible Children and those in the Ugandan community. We focus on long-term goals that enable children to take responsibility for their future and the future of their country. Our programs are carefully researched and developed initiatives that address the need for quality education, mentorships, the redevelopment of schools, resettlement from the camps, and financial stability.
