Crouch End Festival Chorus (UK, 1110790) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Crouch End Festival Chorus is one of Britain's leading choruses, known for our versatility and adventurous repertoire, ranging from classical music to specially commissioned pieces and performances with rock musicians including Ray Davies and Noel Gallagher. Our singers come from all walks of life, united by a love of singing. Crouch End Festival Chorus has a reputation for bold choral singing. It has always taken an adventurous approach to performance and to the repertoire, making emotional connections with audiences through the power of music. The choir values its roots in north London where it was founded but increasingly performs on national and international stages as a symphonic choir.  Your support helps us to develop new audiences and new singers. With your help, we can continue to commission new pieces, extending the repertoire and helping to keep choral music alive. We are currently raising funds to commission a new work by James McCarthy, composer of 17 Days which Crouch End Festival Chorus premiered to critical acclaim and an overwhelming audience response in 2012. If you would like to support this commission, check out our fundraising page  http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=CommissioningJamesMcCarthy Your gift will reach not just 150 enthusiastic singers, but the hundreds of people who come to our concerts, workshops and other performances each year. Thank you!

Princethorpe College is a Catholic, co-educational, HMC independent day school for around 900 pupils aged eleven to eighteen and welcomes members of all faiths and backgrounds. At Princethorpe, our aim is simple; to treat every pupil as an individual, supporting them as they grow into mature, confident, resilient and well-rounded young people with a strong set of moral values to guide them through adult life. The College is renowned for the way in which it looks after its pupils and is characterised by its strong Christian ethos, which underpins everything we do. We have established a Development Office to enable the provision of more bursaries to deserving pupils, to update our facilities, and to meet our strategic development plans. We believe that every child with the potential and passion to benefit from a Princethorpe education should be given the opportunity to learn, grow and develop here. With your help, we can help more children to benefit from this special education.

So far events have included sponsored walks, bag packing and the scouts are planning on paddling the distance of Portsmouth to Cherbourg and back in the new year.

Yarl's Wood Befrienders (UK, 1143160) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Yarl's Wood is an Immigration Removal Centre in North Bedfordshire, which detains women and families. The Befrienders, as an independent charity based in Bedford, provides much-needed support to anyone held in Yarl's Wood who requests it. Through the simple act of visiting and listening, we try to restore self-esteem and reaffirm a basic sense of human dignity. Being held at Yarl’s Wood can be a traumatic experience, especially as detainees do not know how long they are likely to stay there, or whether they will be eventually released or returned to their country of origin. As well as offering emotional support, we also try to give practical help where we can. Many of those leaving Yarl’s Wood will be returning to places where they face immediate danger, or countries they left long ago. They often return to great uncertainty, sometimes with little more than the clothes on their backs. We have a small destitution fund to support people leaving Yarl’s Wood and the money raised through your donations will be used to help replenish this vital source of help. If you know of anyone in Yarl's Wood who is in need of befriending support, please contact us using the tab on the left. Thank you very much for your generosity.
