We're working in our local Huddersfield community to give young people access to incredible opportunities and skills that help them to launch well in today's world.
We are a group of people who share the vision of a world in which a child doesn’t have a stomach bloated by starvation while we struggle with obesity, a world in which a mother doesn’t have that desperate look in her eyes bought on by hearing her child’s cry of hunger while we struggle with overindulgence, a world in which a father’s pride isn’t torn while he is reduced to begging because he can’t find a job, while we struggle with consumerism.
Founded in 2003, Wild things! is an Environmental Education charity based in the North of Scotland. We work with children, young people and vulnerable adults from isolated and deprived communities using contact with the natural world to overcome educational, social or economic disadvantages. Our programmes include forest school, bushcraft courses, holiday camps, conservation and supported volunteering opportunities. Our experienced and professional leaders work with participants over a period of time so they can access, appreciate and care for the natural environment whilst gaining skills, qualifications and healthy new interests which give them a better chance to succeed. Your support could enable a young person with learning difficulties to experience an outdoor classroom where their skills can be recognised and developed, or an adult recovering from addiction to take part in a conservation programme, or you could even be giving a child from a deprived community the chance to benefit from the holiday of a lifetime - wild camping on the Moray Firth. "Invaluable in inspiring the participants and incredibly motivational - more please!"
