Our aim is to advance education of children and women from lower socio-economic background by assisting them in the provison of knowledge, skills, and necessary facilities. This is the best way to help them come out of poverty and become self-reliant. We have started this by supporting a well run local charitable school in Aligarh District of India which imparts completely secular modern education to children irrespective of caste or creed. This school is run by very respected and sincere social workers. The school and its activities are inspected twice a year by us to ensure that all the donations are being properly utilised. Besides, the school also trains women from poor backgrounds in basic literacy and vocational skills to make them self-sufficient. For more information, please visit www.mahak.org.uk.

The Charlie Harrison Foundation was set up after our son Charlie died due to complications during labour. On average ten babies are stillborn (die after the 24th week of pregnancy) and seven babies die neonatally (die within the first four weeks of life) every day in the UK. This is higher than almost any other high income country. Around 500 babies die every year in the UK as a result of events during labour when the baby does not get enough oxygen. These are clearly some of the most avoidable deaths of all since, if the babys labour had been managed in a different way, the baby might have lived. The money raised by The Charlie Harrison Foundation will be used to: Provide training for midwives and neo-natal nurses Ensure appropriate support is available for parents Buy specialised equipment Initially we will support the hospitals where Charlie was cared for but eventually we hope to extend this to other hospitals in our area, to national charities that fund research and to international charities that support neonatal care in developing countries.

4Cs (Centres for Christian Care and Counselling) is a local low-cost counselling organisation run by trained volunteers who are Christians. There are currently centres in Dereham, Norwich, Aylsham and Lowestoft (King's Lynn very soon). 4Cs services are open to everyone, irrespective of faith (or no faith), gender, race, age or sexuality, . People come for counselling for a wide variety of issues, although the most common ones are relationship issues, depression, low self-esteem or as a result of past emotional trauma. The work can be both short or long term. Most people come to 4Cs following recommendation from their GP. Although some counselling is available on the NHS, many people find that this is insufficient and come to 4Cs for longer term work.
What we do and Why Shiloh, a Christian Charity, aims to help people in the locality of Rotherham living in poverty, transition, oppression and homelessness to rebuild their lives, by providing food, support and necessary information to enable them to connect with health, housing and hope. We want people to know that they are not alone and we want to help them to help themselves.
