Time For Families (UK, 1076744) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Time for Families aims to support prisoners and their families during the prison sentence. Having a strong relationship can have a huge affect on re-settlement and helps reduce re-offending. We run courses that allow prisoners and their partners to mend and strengthen their relationships while inside - a chance that rarely ever happens for most prisoners. There are many challenges for a prisoner when they are released. We dont think that their relationship should be one of them! We also work with juvenile prisoners and their parents - teaching them good communication skills, so that on release the young person can return home. We give these families hope for a more positive future, and the tools to achieve that together. Time for Families has been running courses in prisons across the UK since 2004, and has seen great success. Find out more at www.timeforfamilies.org.uk

From Houses To Homes - Scotland (UK, SC041296) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

From Houses To Homes are based in the Guatemalan city of Antigua. Founded in September 2004 we have built over 300 homes to date. In the poorest areas of highland Guatemala, improper building materials, a lack of appropriate resources, and unsustainable architecture turns houses to foul rubble in the blink of an eye. Many families live in makeshift homes that are constructed of nothing more than cornstalk or cardboard walls with dirt floors. Decrepit housing quashes hope, fuels health problems, and destroys family unity. The aim of our organisation is to provide healthy homes, education, medical care and to build a sense of community. We work with the poorest Guatemalan families to build or rebuild houses making them strong, safe, culturally appropriate, and affordable to maintain. We recognise that flourishing homes and thriving communities begin with improving actual home structure. Our sole source of income is through fundraising and donations, so thank you for your generosity. We would not be able to do this work without your help!

Stepping Stones School was established as a registered charity in 2004 by parents of children with special educational needs who were not flourishing in a mainstream school environment.   Due to the success of this school, the DFN Charitable Foundation has taken the significant decision to support the expansion of the school by providing new accommodation to meet the growing demand for places and the changing needs of students and in September 2014 purchased the Undershaw Hotel site with the intention of converting this into a gold standard school providing a spacious, bright and positive environment for the students to continue onto the next stages of their education and development. We have set ourselves a target of £1.5m to be raised by March 2016 to allow us to fit out the school to the highest standard.  Every penny will help towards our goal.  THANK YOU !
