Herefordshire Reuse & Recycling Organisation (H.R.R.O) is a local charity based in Rotherwas, Hereford. We are helping to reduce landfill, support sustainable lives and assist people in need across Herefordshire. We accept donations of unwanted furniture and goods, giving them a second life instead of letting them go to waste. Items that can’t be reused are recycled properly. We believe in affordable pricing: all our goods are priced to be accessible, helping to ease the burden of the cost-of-living crisis and combat furniture poverty. We work with referrals from social services, housing associations and women’s refuges. With your donation, you help us cover our overheads, keep our services running, support local people, and protect our planet.

Education is one of the most effective weapons in the battle against HIV– it gives children vital information, support from teachers and friends and skills to help them earn a living after school. We enable over 8,000 children to go to school by providing uniforms, shoes, books, pens and other equipment, and paying school and exam fees. Once they graduate, we help some of them train as teachers and peer health educators so they can pass on life-giving education to thousands more youngsters. For more information see our website www.cecilysfund.org.

But how do we cope with something none of us are experienced at or expect to have to deal with? When your child experiences poor mental health, the whole family is impacted. Life is not the same as it was before - it is uncertain, full of challenge, and overloaded with emotion and expectation. And no one seems to get it or talk about it - which is why we offer a safe, judgement-free space for parents to explore how they feel about this experience and reduce isolation by connecting with others in similar situations. Parenting Mental Health supports parents to understand their child's illness and that mental illness offers an opportunity to reflect on their behaviour, communication and emotions. We offer the kind of understanding that can be so hard to find when the family you knew and loved is shaken up by poor mental health. Parents who complete our training and follow our methodology model better behaviours around acceptance, communication, consistency and self care, which lead to better relationships. In time, when the next generation become parents, we hope they will model the positive behaviours of their parents and be more understanding of mental health.
