(UK, 1151989) Browse eventsLets Beat NETs was set up to aid research into a rare form of cancer known as Neuro-Endocrine Tumours, or NETS for short. Inspired by an incredible wife and mother of five, Sharon Heazle (who was diagnosed with NETs in early 2012), the charity aims to support research into potential treatments for NETs and is linked to the work of Professor Magnus Essand of Uppsala University in Sweden who is pioneering a cancer-bashing oncolytic virus in his lab. All money raised by Lets Beat NETs is passed to Uppsala University to help them fund clinical trials with Prof Essand's virus to give those suffering from NETs hope for a better future.

(UK, 1051512) Browse eventsThe Sawston Fun Run has been organised and expanded by the Rotary Club of Sawston District, on behalf of the local community for the past 10 years, and it is now the largest community led charity event in Cambridgeshire. Every year they try to improve the organisation and make it easier for participants to enter and raise sponsorship. The sponsorship money raised through Everyday Hero will be paid initially into the Rotary Club of Sawston District Charity Account where it will be eligible for Gift Aid. All of the money will then be distributed to the designated beneficiaries. By combining their skills, resources and enthusiasm, Rotarians make a real contribution to local communities by raising tens of thousands of pounds for community projects and local charities. Members also volunteer their time - supervising community events, running a host of projects aimed at promoting the achievements of young people, coordinating educational programmes, and supporting local businesses. It’s not surprising that ‘Community Service’ is the traditional and well-known public face of Rotary.
