Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow, is an independent charity providing free accommodation for 500 families each year whose children are critically ill patients in Yorkhill Hospital. Stays, completely free of charge, vary from a few nights to many months.The House needs to raise £400,000 each year.

The Trusts aim is the advancement and development of education, training and qualifications within the hospitality industry, investing in both the present and future skills needs of the industry. The Trust currently invests in two major projects, the Master lnnholder Scholarship Scheme and the Master Innholders Aspiring Leaders Diploma. The MI scholarship scheme is an education programme for junior and middle level managers in the hotel industry to attend development courses at the lnternational Hotel School in Lausanne, Switzerland; at Cranfield Management School (in Bedfordshire) and at the Business School in Cornell University in America. The Aspiring Leaders Diploma programme is geared to more junior level managers, focussed towards the lnstitute of Hospitality's Level 3 Diploma. The Trustees have been delighted to note the positive benefit of increased motivation toward the industry and, particularly, retention of junior managers within the industry as a result of having taken part in these programmes.
