HCT is dedicated to combatting poverty and disadvantage. Through practical advice, training and grants, our life-changing activities help vulnerable residents, families and communities fulfil their potential. We help people get in to work, online, out of debt and financially stable. Our award-winning grants programme for young people ensures all our young residents can build confidence and learn new skills. Our community grants programme helps residents design and deliver the activities they know will make their communities better places to live. Our residents say it best: "I am useless....I don’t have any hope of getting a job....and then we are told...I’ve changed personally...I was sad...but now I’m happy" “You’re really part of the world online...I don’t what I’d do without it...I rely on it so much now...” "My son was in year 2 of Primary School and could not read appropriate age books. A grant paid for a tutor who taught him to read. I would not have been able to afford a tutor. He now reads nearly all the time; even whilst walking." The majority of the people we support live in Hyde Housing Association Ltd homes across London and the South East.

Level Trust supports children living in poverty in Luton. In Luton 14,000 children are living in poverty according to the governments latest figures. Poverty causes children to be without basic items such as comfortable school shoes, warm winter coats and even breakfast. In turn, this 'going without' can cause children to do less well at school because they do not have everything they need to do well. Level Trust seeks to remove the barrier's that poverty brings to a child's education by providing children with everything they need to thrive. Level Trust work through schools to identify the needs of children and to administer resources. Whether that is a new pair of shoes, a warm winter coat or a chance to go to a club they have always wanted to try, Level Trust do all they can to make sure that whatever a child's background, they have all they need to fufil their potential in life.
The Choir with No Name runs choirs for people who have experienced homelessness, and others on the margins. Our mission is to enable marginalised people to make friends, build their confidence and skills and find their place in society. Each choir rehearses once a week, and we always share a hot meal together afterwards too (cooked by our fantastic team of volunteers). We also love to perform in public regularly. We've got four choirs - two in London, one in Birmingham and one in Liverpool - and plans are afoot for a fifth choir later this year... We need donations to fund things like hiring rehearsal venues, travel to gigs, salaries, and food. We would be so grateful for your support! One of the most valuable (and fun!) ways of supporting us is to join our official fan club. Click here for more details.

As a university, we are an expression of democracy, progress, knowledge and principle. We believe the fundamental, transformative effect of higher education has benefits for individuals, and for society as a whole. We endeavour to create an institution which encourages students to become good citizens, both within the University community and in the wider world. ‘Inspired for Life’ means that we not only support students and staf to succeed in their chosen career, but also that we motivate them to use the skills that they develop to build a better world. Te University works across the whole life-course, acting as a force for good and seeking impact at every stage. We believe in educating and supporting the whole person, championing intellectual growth and academic achievement whilst recognising that we are much more than the sum of those achievements. We have reimagined the modern university, developing our facilities to be public by design and opening our doors to the community. We have demonstrated the contribution a university can make in strengthening the glue that holds society together, providing cultural resources, raising the aspirations of children and young people and impacting on wider issues related to health, citizenship and community cohesion. In the period ahead and beyond, the University intends to further extend and deepen this commitment to both student and public benefit.

Established in 1998, Standing Together Against Domestic Violence coordinates the ground-breaking multi-agency response to domestic violence. Standing Together influences national policy and practice by initiating and driving innovation, providing safer options for women and their children and holding perpetrators accountable. Standing Together builds and supports effective multi agency partnerships throughout the UK to meet the needs of survivors of domestic violence. Standing Together believes that that domestic violence is a serious and high volume crime which no one agency can deal with effectively if acting alone. It destroys families and damages society. The facts about domestic violence are shocking and all communities, classes and ages are affected. 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence. Two women are murdered in the UK by their current or former partner every week. Standing Together trains all agencies to deal with domestic violence effectively and consults with survivors to inform improvements in services.
