Abbie's smile, sparkle and infectious enthusiasm lit up the room and that's exactly how Abbie wants people to remember and celebrate her life. Abbie passed away on Christmas Day after living with a rare form of Sarcoma for four years and four months. Christmas was Abbie's favourite day, she loved it, we believe that Abbie held on and chose the sparkliest day of the year to go. One of Abbie's wishes is to raise money for "Hospitals and stuff" under the charity name Abbie's Sparkle Foundation. It was the sense of humour and laugh-out-loud mentality which set Abbie apart and meant she lived every moment and every day to the full. Abbie was a vivacious and talented cheerleader who was hailed by medics as "incredible and was an inspiration to be part of her care". Abbie went on a very hard journey, but was so strong and so brave every step of the way.

HBS Parents' Association is open to all HBS families and run by a group of parents/guardian volunteers. Our main purpose is to strengthen the school community by welcoming new families while supporting and maintaining the engagement of current families. We also try to assist the school with fundraising activities. In particular, we help the school by organising events and fundraising initiatives. In the past, the Parents' Association has helped the school fundraising efforts with specific projects, for example, we have recently contributed towards the refurbishment of the stairs from the Main Hall. We welcome new volunteers from all the class years, particularly from the new years. The PA's Organising Committee meets once or twice per semester and are always looking for additional help. We are charity that rescues unwanted pet pigs and give them a safe and loving home. They may be neglected, abused, mistreated, can no longer be kept or are simply not wanted anymore. Usually the only option for these animals is slaughter as they are exceptionally hard to re-home. We give them sanctuary, love and care, rehabilitating and re-socialising them. If they can then go to new forever homes, they do, if not they stay and live their life happily and safely at the sanctuary. They are not used for meat or unscrupulous breeding programmes. Apart from giving these intelligent and engaging animals security and safety, we also aim to educate people about porcine care and husbandry so that they can make informed choices and understand them better.
Fine Cell Work is a social enterprise that teaches needlework to prison inmates and sells their products. The prisoners do the work when they are locked in their cells, and the earnings give them hope, skills and independence. Our mission is to rehabilitate prisoners by giving them the opportunity to earn and save money and the chance to reflect on and rebuild their lives through craft and achievement. Prisoners do Fine Cell Work for an average of 3 years: the benefits can therefore be profound.
