In memory of Thomas Bucciero who's dream was to find a cure for this disease.

(UK, 1138787) For over 40 years The Pirate Castle, based in its unique Castle premises on the Regent’s Canal in Camden, has provided boating fun on the water for young people and adults of all ages! With the extension to the Castle which was completed in October 2008 we have fully accessible premises, with a lift, accessible toilets and showers and an induction loop. There is also significant new space for community activities (including a modern commercial kitchen). The charity promotes activities and training for young people whether as individuals or in school or other groups. Our aim is to share our enthusiasm and expertise with young people so as to allow them to gain in self confidence and develop life and social skills that will help them to achieve their full potential. To achieve our objectives we often work in partnership with other charities and groups and provide sessions on our two narrowboats, skippering, canoeing and kayaking as well as canal side indoor facilities for both local organizations and visiting groups. Our slogan is ‘Adventure on the canal for all’ so we welcome everyone to come and enjoy our facilities and enjoy the canal. Our main priority target group is disadvantaged young people – whether that disadvantage is economic, disability or other. The Pirate Castle is run by four full time staff and a dedicated team of Coaches and volunteers, who between them organise and run our water based activities and help to ensure the full community use of our large hall. The Castle is available for use seven days a week and when not needed for one of our club activities, our hall is available for hire. Indoor activities at the Castle have included theatre workshops, drumming sessions, yoga classes, council surgeries, children’s parties, excluded children’s activities, computer classes, martial arts, dance workshops and an evening youth club. The Castle is a registered charity with no government or local authority funding, being financed entirely by the ongoing generosity of our friends and supporters. Maintaining sufficient funding, especially in the current environment is a continual battle and monies are always urgently required and appreciated. We are currently specifically seeking funds for a fully accessible narrowboat. Activities are overseen by a management committee which meets monthly and by a supervisory board of trustees. We aim to share God's love using music and the arts as a means of engaging and communicating with children through assemblies, RE lessons, workshops, artsweeks and events. We currently employ three frontline workers - singer/songwriter and Trust Director John Froud, percussionist Mark Drake, and storyteller Julie Wilkinson - who make regular visits to over 50 schools in the Bradford area and beyond.

We offer advice and support through our help line and our magazine "Link". We also represent our members at various meetings making sure their opinions are heard. We also offer welfare assistance and hold regular meetings with organisations so issues affecting our members can be voiced. We run a minibus to convey our members to activities and own our premises. As an organisation we also offer clubs for our adult members which include Gateway Club, Drama Group and an art group. For our younger members we run a Children's Respite Leisure Scheme. All these groups especially the Children's scheme cost a great deal of money to run. The Play and Respite Scheme for Children is run by Part time members of staff and is Ofsted Registered.

Our unique approach to philanthropy allows individuals and businesses to support their own specific local interests and causes and in doing so invest in the future of their community. Our concept is simple. We provide the means for individuals and organisations to establish their own charitable 'funds' which, alongside our own general endowment, provide benefit to local people. We offer all the pleasure of giving without any of the hassle. We champion small groups and organisations, going out of our way to find local charities, community groups and voluntary organisations that need support. We guide them through our various funds in order to help them achieve their aims, which are in the main to improve quality of life for the people of Kent. Kent Community Foundation is seven years old this year. When the Foundation was established in 2001 it would have been difficult to conceive that seven years on more than £8.5 million would have been distributed to in excess of 3000 groups and organisations benefiting literally tens of thousands of people across Kent. A huge thank you goes to all those who have given and continue to give us their support. It is because of such people and organisations that in our seventh year alone we will be able to distribute close to £2.6 million and our donors 'endowed' funds have grown to in excess of £1.3 million

BCAT - provides a service to assess and facilitate arts therapies sessions. Arts therapists work with both children and adults who have a wide range of needs, such as those arising from emotional, behavioural or mental health problems and effects of stress and trauma. BCAT - serves as a resource centre and teaching establishment for the training, education and support of professionals and carers. BCAT Therapists have access to a comprehensive, post-qualification Staff Development programme, including regular professional supervision. BCAT - will hold, update and make available a library of information, including audio-visual facilities, supporting research and promoting the understanding and benefits of the arts therapies as a whole.

Our primary aim is to help the people we support to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, making sure they have access to opportunities many of us take for granted. We support people to make friends, take part in activities that support their health, wellbeing and safety and to live as individuals, being in control of everything they do. Every penny of funds raised is spent directly on supporting people with learning disabilities who choose to receive support from us. For example, 100% of your contributions will support us to provide resources such as art materials, musical instruments, transport for much needed days out (supporting users and carers), social events in the community and much more. Many of the people we work with have very little money to spare, so any additional support we can offer through fundraising is gratefully received. In the coming months, we will be posting details on our website as well as telling you directly about how funds you help us to raise are being used and how your support is directly supporting some of the most marginalised people in our society. TramShed's Mission Statement: 'To bring individuals together to create outstanding, original and beautiful theatre which inspires and celebrates everyone'. Muli Mutya, Lancashire! was launched in July 2013 when TramShed was joined by Drama Facilitator - Lillian Mbabazi from Kampala-Uganda. Since this exciting launch we have rolled out four Inclusive Outreach projects in Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde and performed this innovative work to over 700 people. Now in it's final phase, the Uganda Appeal must raise at least £10,000 to enable our Arts Practitioner Team to fly out to Kampala-Uganda in August 2014 and train staff at Makerere University in Inclusive Performing Arts. We will then launch a pilot Inclusive Theatre with namirembe Infants Primary School and Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped. So many barriers are being broken in a project of this scale and we need your help to ensure this dream becomes a reality.

We run community projects and collaborate with schools, health and social care organisations, arts and cultural agencies, and do performance projects and residencies in the UK and abroad. Locally in Trafford we run community dance activities such as VISIBLE dance at Waterside Arts Centre and performing art leadership training with other day service providers.
