(UK, 1117506) Devonshires has a long standing commitment to donating money to charities. The Foundation is a charitable organisation set to provide support to charities engaged in education, training and regeneration. With an emphasis on working with charities helping those on low income, the work of the Foundation is to include both financial assistance and volunteer support. The Foundation select three charities every two years to be the focus of grant and fund raising activities carried out by partners and staff through personal challenges and sponsored events. Over the last three years over £90,000 has been donated to our supported charities to meet their individual projects. Involvement in the foundation is firmwide and staff are encouraged to propose charities to support.

Our vision is to make orchestral music accessible to all. At Viva we love making people happy, we love it when people enjoy working with us, we love performing and we love to help other people perform with us too. Whether it’s our concert or education work, we connect participants, communities and professional musicians together to create exceptional music that stirs the emotions. You can be sure that donations help where they are needed most. Sinfonia Viva started in 1982 – making 2017 our 35th anniversary year.We work closely with people to create projects and music they write and play themselves. We do this in areas and with people that need it most. In our 35th year our appeal aims to fund 3,500 people to take part in creative work. Projects planned include working with:- Young people from 1yr – 21yrs- Older people with dementia - Caring for carers, with our Carers Choir- FEVER, our work in hospitals and hospices- Young people and adults with additional needs- As many people as we can with more concerts and projects in more places We know from the people that we work with that creative music work opens up opportunities they never thought possible, gives confidence to those that are lacking it and makes happy memories for those that need them most. It works with local charities helping with their fundraising and also organises major fundraising events.This year we have two events. On Sunday 7th September, we will be holding a Sponsored Walk over the North York Moors with walkers raising money for both their own charity and our Trust Fund for distribution. YTD Raised: £230.00Freewheelers provides a unique combination of community service and artistic excellence. We run workshops in drama, dance and film-making for disabled and non-disabled adults and children, and perform in theatres and schools, bringing together all sections of the community. We involve all abilities, all ages and all forms of performing art, as well as media. Nationally there is a large number of organisations creating theatre with learning disabled people, but very few for those who also have physical disabilities. So our company gives people who would be unable to take part in the performing arts the opportunity to do so. This gives them the confidence to go further, leading not only to enhanced quality of life, but also reducing illness and creating opportunities for future employment. We currently have 75 disabled people attending our workshops, 7 of whom come to us as part of their school curriculum. We provide a very cost-effective service, as we rent our rehearsal premises very cheaply, and our office premises are donated free by two trustees. Much of the administrative work is done free of charge by trustees and other volunteers. However, transport for our disabled people is increasingly expensive, as are the costs of putting on performances. Freewheelers performances are ambitious and innovative, and we were awarded three Inspire Marks by the Cultural Olympiad. We have been told by our users, their families and care workers that we provide a life-line. Please help us to continue doing so!

Their support is absolutely invaluable to us.So why should you support us?Our touring shows are the visible part of our work - what isnt in the public eye is the massive amount of participation work going on. Its this work which needs financial support. Our projects with young people who are disengaged from society, the youth theatre groups that we run and community engagement projects, all need support. For some young people, getting involved in our youth theatre has had a profound effect on their ability to manage their feelings and in particular, anger. We provide affordable experiences so that no child is excluded because of financial hardship. Our vision is to create an inspiring place where children of all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds can come and play music. We aim to give children and young people, many of whom would never have access to musical education, the opportunity to learn music within a structured programme, alongside other youngsters, and under the guidance of committed and inspirational musicians. We have found that the power of music lifts children out of isolation and disadvantage. Learning and playing music enables young people to feel that they are part of something; something that nobody can take away from them.
