These tours can be both mentally and physically challenging and have proven to be extremely beneficial for those who have taken part, at varying stages of their rehabilitation process.

The Old Vic Theatre Trust 2000 (UK, 1072590) Browse events

YTD Raised: £155.00

First opened in 1818, The Old Vic reaches out to the widest range of audiences without compromising artistic standards. Although it has attracted great actors, it has never believed that theatre itself is for an elite. We believe theatre should be for everyone. In addition to staging plays we support the education of young and adult people from deprived backgrounds, and are committed to creative learning, fostering new talent and engaging with community through our Old Vic New Voices department. The Old Vic doesn't receive a regular public subsidy from the government so we can only continue our work with the support of generous individuals, foundations and companies. We are pioneering a financial model of self-reliance in the arts through the formation of the endowment fund, which will remain in place for 25 years. The endowment will enhance productions, sustain our education and community programmes and maintain our historic building. We have been encouraged by a one-off commitment from Arts Council England, through its Catalyst Fund, to give us a 3:1 match on money we raise before July 2015. Therefore, for every £3 you raise, we will receive a further £1 from Arts Council England, ensuring great theatre is available to all.

We meet to chat through issues, offer support, gain tips and to give the children an opportunity to socialise with their hearing impaired peers which they may not get much chance to do in a mainstream school. We also organise a range of events throughout the year including sporting activities, arts and crafts, theatre trips, horse riding and parties! Often free of charge or nominal fees, these events really allow the children time to interact with each other whilst doing fun activities. YTD Raised: £130.00

Who we are and what we do A Leicester based charity, established in 1986, we use arts, media and music activities to inspire and engage young people and help them to develop creative, social and employability skills. Our inclusive way of working helps young people who lack opportunities or have challenges in their lives to participate in positive creative activities. We help them get back on track if things have gone wrong, try new things, build the confidence and resilience to change negative or risky behaviours, and progress to lead more fulfilling lives. This, in turn, has a beneficial effect on their communities. We set up projects and activities to encourage participation in the arts in Leicestershire. We have an experienced team who develop and deliver a wide range of creative projects and activities. Different agencies refer young people to activities at our studios or in local communities. Our work tackles local and national problems like gang culture, anti-social behaviour and unhealthy lifestyles, using creativity to give young people more positive choices in their lives. We work with MPs, police, fire service, schools, youth, health and social services, and local authorities. This gives our work a greater impact: we share ideas and resources which gives value for money for taxpayers and fewer social problems.
