The Salaam Centre offers facilities for everyone regardless of age and will be an 'oasis of belonging' for all generations.Keeping the Islamic heritage aliveOur Islamic heritage is central to our lives and will underpin everything we do at the Salaam Centre. Furthermore we believe our values can transcend boundaries and bring us closer to our friends and neighbours in the UK. Creating an environment of openness will allow meaningful interaction with wider society and correct the sometimes false, negative image of Islam. Holistic and SereneAmid the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the Salaam Centre will offer a haven of reflection and tranquility immersed in an Islamic environment. The facilities at The Salaam Centre are designed to nurture new expressions of religion and a better understanding of Islam through innovative methods and free expression.Make a differenceIt has been a long road from the project’s first inception to gaining planning permission from the Local Authority in January 2011. £3M has been raised for this project and the project’s overall construction cost is £8M. This figure may seem ambitious but the Salaam Centre offers something unique that has the potential to transform the community and radically re-orientate the relationship between Muslims and the wider society in the West, ensuring a sustainable future for all.

Alveolar capillary dysplasia is a very rare congenital malformation involving abnormal development of the capillary vascular system around the alveoli of the lungs. Babies with ACD may appear normal at birth but within minutes or hours they develop incurable respiratory distress . There is no treatment for ACD and as it is so rare, there has been little research into this devastating and fatal illness. The David Ashwell Foundation was set up in memory of Brian David Ashwell. In March 2011 his first grandson, named David Fazlollah Upeska Ashwell, was born and 48 hours after birth became seriously ill. David died aged only 15 days old from ACD. These funds will only be used to support research into this rare and fatal disease. Money raised will be added to the Restricted ACD Research Fund at the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) to fund the next ACD research grant. For further information on ACD please see the Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia Association (ACDA) website.

(UK, 1168999) Browse eventsThe Zak Vali Foundation started up in memory of Zak Vali who sadly passed away with cancer in 2015. During this difficult time we realised that whilst there are many charities well established to provide emotional support as well as information in this difficult time, there are none set up to provide financial support for the costs of a funeral when a child passes away due to cancer. Often when a child takes ill with cancer, the family must dedicate all of their time for caring for their child and taking them to and from hospital. During this period it can be very difficult for the parents to find work which make finances an extra stress for them to juggle. If the child sadly passes away, parents are often left grieving and financially unable to pay for a fitting send off for their loved one. The Zak Vali Foundation are the only charity in the UK that provide financial support to relieve the financial burden that saying goodbye to a child may bring. Our referrals come directly from the carers that have been working personally with the child and family and therefore know their needs best. It is our belief that nobody should have to worry about being able to afford a fitting send off for their child. And it is our aim to ensure that where possible we will ensure that every child that passes away due to cancer has a funeral they deserve.

Since 2008 we have worked with thousands of young people in Islington, one of London's most disadvantaged, unequal and challenging boroughs. We can't do it, however, without the support of trusts and foundations, local government and - most importantly - individual donations. By making a donation to us, you can be confident knowing that your money goes directly to funding projects with some of Islington's most inspiring and challenging young people, to giving a voice to people who wouldn't have one otherwise and to creating groundbreaking new theatre.

We provide access for young people who would otherwise grow up having had no or very limited opportunity to engage with the arts. Children who take part are drawn from both urban and rural areas of deprivation and come from a variety of backgrounds. Many have behavioural and learning difficulties. Thousands of children leave school having never set foot in an art gallery, watched a performance in a theatre or listened to an orchestra play live. Children & the Arts works to redress this balance and encourage in children a long term engagement with the arts. The arts have the power to transform children’s lives and have a proven positive impact on their development resulting in: Through our work children learn that cultural venues are welcoming, accessible and exciting places to visit

Direct into their homes, volunteers read with the children, lend them books, befriend the families and offer support. As a charity we're unique in this. We do it because poor reading skills are inextricably linked to economic disadvantage and reduced life possibilities. Our work improves not just reading skills, but confidence, self-esteem, articulacy, social integration, academic performance and even long-term employment prospects. (UK, We) Browse eventsWe are a community amateur sports club (CASC) that provides facilities and cricket for both male and female cricketers from the age of 8 upwards. We have a pavilion situated in lower castle park in Colchester and have two cricket pitches on the same site. The pavilion consists of three small changing rooms, kitchen, bar, lounge, toilet and a cellar. Externally the club has a four lane astro turf cricket practise facility and two cricket pitches. The first pitch is the main senior cricket pitch and has been in place for over 150 years. The second junior pitch was installed 4 years ago due to an ever increasing membership. The club runs mens and ladies teams and junior boys and girls teams from under 11 through to under 19. The pavilion requires redevelopment and extending to accommodate our ever growing club and this is the purpose of this fundraising campaign. The proposed project is to refurbish and extend the existing cricket pavilion to accommodate extra changing facilities following increasing junior and female membership and development of a second playing pitch. This will allow the club to further expand and accommodate new junior members and provide further sporting opportunities for the community. The newly developed building will contain four large player changing rooms, an officials changing room, disabled changing and toilets. The newly developed building will also include an improved function area, kitchen and disabled access to enable possible use by a partner community or sporting organisation. The building will be more sustainable to accommodate more activities throughout the year. The existing facility has no disabled access and a small function and kitchen area which requires improvement to enable use of the building all year round.
