The school has a wide range of specialist facilities and therapies on site such as hydrotherapy, dark and white sensory rooms, a creative arts room and highly trained staff capable of meeting a wide range of needs. Friends of Woodlands is a registered charity, whose aim is to raise funds to enable the school to purchase items which it would otherwise not be able to afford through normal funding. Such items range from sensory equipment to arts and music equipment, in fact, anything which enhances the lives and learning skills of the pupils. The Charity also funds activity days in the school holidays to allow parents and siblings of disabled pupils time for themselves. The Dallaglio Foundation (UK, 1130353FDN) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,411.00

The Dallaglio Foundation identifies, supports and raises funds for causes close to Lawrence (cancer and youth development), that will change lives through teamwork. Founded in 2009 by former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio, after the loss of his mum Eileen to cancer in 2008, we have worked to raise £7m to date, originally for various charities and since 2 years, specifically for Cancer Research UK and the UK-arm of the ground-breaking ICGC research project (International Cancer Genome Consortium). Additionally, in the wake of the London riots, we have endeavored to nurture youth engagement for a better society, and believe that there is no better way to address this than via sport, especially one such as rugby which exhorts strong community values.  Since 2012, we are thus building, funding and delivering our own project, a very ambitious youth development and social inclusion programme: Dallaglio Foundation Rugby For Change. Alongside a Rugby Scholarship programme for highly talented young rugby players, it uses rugby as the vehicle to target at risk youths, and gives them the opportunity to become part of a team while tackling serious social issues, from youth crime, to lack of engagement in education. For youth as for research, from the most talented needing financing right through to the disadvantaged needing motivation and purpose, via our events or delivering our programmes, we will find a way to help.

The wheelchair users are pushed by the skaters, and together we cover a distance of 5 to 12 miles. Our joint trips usually start in one of London’s main parks, and we also use carefully chosen routes through Central London, taking in major landmarks and attractions Our Street Strolls are always marshalled by the skaters who go ahead of the main group and stop the traffic, to ensure the safety of the entire group. Another group of marshals will always maintain a presence behind the main group to make sure that no one gets left behind, and that other road users are aware of our presence on the road. As a group of able bodied and disabled friends, we go out together about once or twice a month. Through our joint efforts, we achieve what neither group would be able to do on their own.
