Broughton Primary School Trust (UK, SC044041) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,917.50

Broughton Primary is a city centre school with a wide catchment area and a rich mix of cultures and faiths, committed to bringing the best to each of our children. Broughton Primary School Trust was set up to support the Parent Staff Association (PSA) to make the most of fundraising opportunities which benefit the children, staff and parents who make the school a vital and much loved part of the local community. Throughout the year we run events to raise money for Broughton and to date we've funded Gaelic football, iPads for digital learning, scooterpods, the Christmas pantomime and loose play parts for outdoor fun and learning. Our wider aim is to raise £25,000 to make much needed improvements to the playground. Being in the heart of a busy, and developing community brings with it challenges as the school roll grows, and new classrooms have been built in the playground to accommodate the additional local children attending Broughton.  So, it's important that the space the children have access to for playing, relaxing and learning is the best it can be. Children, staff and parents are working together to bring to life an ambitious and much needed vision for a better environment for the children who attend the school, and live in the local area. Can you help us make the vision a reality?

YTD Raised: £1,875.00

At Teach A Man To Fish we believe that education is the real key to tackling global poverty. We support pioneering education projects in some of the worlds poorest countries - giving young people a chance to learn the skills to help themselves. Our approach is unique in aiming for long-term financial sustainability. Alongside class-based lessons, student-run businesses generate income which helps cover the schools costs, an education that pays for itself! So when our students leave school they not only have a qualification, but entrepreneurial and practical skills which they can use to earn a living. Successful projects to date have supported Ugandan schools in pig keeping, funded poor Kenyan students through a school run poultry farm and helped a school in Paraguay become completely self-sufficient. Teach a Man to Fishs Escuela Agricola project in Paraguay was last year named the Runner Up in the BBCs global World Challenge awards, which celebrate enterprise and innovation at a grass roots level. We are a charity registered organisation and have children from 2 to 5 years old. We are set in a tranquil village location which provides us with great access to additional countryside space, mothecombe beach; where we run our beach school sessions and the nearby park & orchard. We believe every child should feel safe, happy and understood. We achieve this by providing a caring environment and future for each individual by ensuring we know each child and adapt our provision to include them. It is our belief that a child who feels valued and secure will flourish both academically and socially. We provide experience through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) where each child will discover their particular strengths and talents. Beyond our pre-school and garden we take full advantage of our exceptional surroundings with regular visits to the park and walks around the village. We have Forest School every Friday in the Community Orchard and Beach School every Monday on Mothecombe Beach. We seek to nurture each child as an individual, building the vital moral foundation and interpersonal skills to become a valued and useful member of society. In our cosy family feel pre-school, we seek to nurture positive attitudes to work and a sense of responsibility and consideration of others.

Cecily’s Fund helps Zambian children, who have been orphaned or made vulnerable as a result of HIV and AIDS, to get an education. Education is one of the most effective weapons in the battle against HIV– it gives children vital information, support from teachers and friends and skills to help them earn a living after school. We enable over 8,000 children to go to school by providing uniforms, shoes, books, pens and other equipment, and paying school and exam fees. Once they graduate, we help some of them train as teachers and peer health educators so they can pass on life-giving education to thousands more youngsters.
