This school provides education to 200 children who had never been able to have an education as other government schools are too far away and too expensive. Manisha UK is a UK based, not-for-profit charity run entirely by volunteers and focussed on establishing sustainable schools in rural communities of Nepal.  We support rural community schools in Palpa and Gurkha districts of Nepal with project activity currently under-way to completely rebuild one school and significantly extend or repair three others.  Our support to the teachers, parents, children and schools in the poorest rural communities of Nepal includes: Manisha UK focusses the majority of its resources on improving the quality of education through its Teacher Training Programme. Additionally, our healthcare volunteers promote care of the sick child and Manisha UK now provides and replenishes first aid kits in each school, but our resources are limited. In Nepal, a little goes a long way and without exception it is far more cost effective to send money to buy items in Nepal rather than sending donated items from the UK. The Friends of Willow Dene is an organisation formed in 2010 to provide both financial support for Willow Dene School through a variety of fund-raising events as well as encouraging closer links between its members and the school.  Willow Dene is an above average sized primary special school and is the only one of its kind in the borough of Greenwich. It caters for children between the ages of 3 years to 11 years old with a wide range of learning disabilities, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and complex needs. All pupils have a statement of special educational needs (SEN) The Friends of Willow Dene have raised funds for the purchase of a new mini bus through the Lord's Taverners - Thank you Lord's Taverners. And this year our Christmas Fayre raised enough to purchase 4 new iPads for use by the pupils. Our ongoing fundraising is now to support the provision of exciting  new facilities for the  school in the new build currently going up. We need all the support we can get and all donations to help provide these will be very gratefully received.

We support and advise construction projects ranging from seismically-resistant housing to sanitation units and schools to rainwater-harvesting schemes.This year we are supporting the Imperial College El Salvador Reconstruction and Development Project and the Imperial College Helping Hand Vietnam Project.  These team projects are led and managed by engineering students from Imperial College London, working closely with local NGOs and poor rural communities to improve their livelihoods.Money donated to Engage for Development will go towards supporting these two projects and enabling Engage’s work in developing countries around the world.
