(UK, 803792) Started in 1968, Petts Wood Playgroup for Children With Special Needs provides pre-school care and education for 0-5 year olds with additional / special needs. Staffed primarily by volunteers from the local community, supported by therapists from the local authority, PWPG has been judged Outstanding in all Areas by Ofsted. On going training and qualifications enable the group to provide a safe and stimulating environment for each child and meet their individual needs, then support the families at the transition to school. No fees are charged, so the group has to raise funds to provide basic commodities and specialist equipment to maximise each childs ability to achieve their potential. We support pioneering education projects in some of the worlds poorest countries - giving young people a chance to learn the skills to help themselves. Our approach is unique in aiming for long-term financial sustainability. Alongside class-based lessons, student-run businesses generate income which helps cover the schools costs, an education that pays for itself! So when our students leave school they not only have a qualification, but entrepreneurial and practical skills which they can use to earn a living. Successful projects to date have supported Ugandan schools in pig keeping, funded poor Kenyan students through a school run poultry farm and helped a school in Paraguay become completely self-sufficient. Teach a Man to Fishs Escuela Agricola project in Paraguay was last year named the Runner Up in the BBCs global World Challenge awards, which celebrate enterprise and innovation at a grass roots level. The school is spread over three sites, the main site on Frensham Road, our Nursery at Pilgrim’s Way School, and our Further Education Unit which is sited at Farnham College. We provide a personalised education for our 100 pupils and, by fundraising, we aim to provide new facilities, minibuses and equipment to improve and support teaching and learning and enhance the lives and experiences of our young people with learning difficulties. We particularly support each child to develop an effective means of communication. Access to resources can open up a whole new world, hopefully becoming the start of a lifetime of simple, but effective communication, something many of us take for granted.

We are a charity registered organisation and have children from 2 to 5 years old. We are set in a tranquil village location which provides us with great access to additional countryside space, mothecombe beach; where we run our beach school sessions and the nearby park & orchard. We believe every child should feel safe, happy and understood. We achieve this by providing a caring environment and future for each individual by ensuring we know each child and adapt our provision to include them. It is our belief that a child who feels valued and secure will flourish both academically and socially. We provide experience through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) where each child will discover their particular strengths and talents. Beyond our pre-school and garden we take full advantage of our exceptional surroundings with regular visits to the park and walks around the village. We have Forest School every Friday in the Community Orchard and Beach School every Monday on Mothecombe Beach. We seek to nurture each child as an individual, building the vital moral foundation and interpersonal skills to become a valued and useful member of society. In our cosy family feel pre-school, we seek to nurture positive attitudes to work and a sense of responsibility and consideration of others.

HUGEs initial aim is to work in partnership with the Nabugabo Community Development Association, located on the shores of Lake Nabugabo in South West Uganda.Our aim is to help strengthen the local community,to generate improvements in education, healthcare,employment and environmental initiatives. Work in the surrounding area will begin once the Nabugabo project proves sustainable. Opening it's doors in 2013,the school now has 75 children enrolled in three year bands from just three years of age.The vision is to be able to offer a full primary education from Reception through to Primary 7.In order to achieve this,there will be ongoing capital and revenue requirements for the construction and fit out of supplementary classrooms and staff accomodation together with the cost of additional teaching staff. We need your help to make this possible,any donations,small (or large) will make a HUGE difference to these children.Please help us fulfil this vision and importantly help these children and, more to an education they so richly deserve.
