(UK, 1082599) Autism, the complex lifelong neurological condition which affects the way a person communicates and relates to people around them, affects 1 in 100 children in the UK. No one knows what causes it and there is no cure. At BeyondAutism we strive to enrich the lives of children with autism and those of their families using positive educational experiences to provide them with a brighter future. We run an independent special needs school for children of primary and secondary school age (4-17) with autism spectrum disorders. The school offers a structured programme of intensive intervention based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behaviour (VB). Our greatest efforts are devoted to understanding the very individual needs of each child who attends Rainbow School. Through the development of a happy, caring environment the children and staff gain respect for each other, and nurture confidence, independence and self-belief. Fundraising is integral to the development of Rainbow School and BeyondAutism. All pupils placed at Rainbow School are fully funded by their Local Authority. However, LA funding does not cover the capital costs of school buildings or the expansion expenses of training and materials. As a result the charity relies on the generosity of its supporters to allow us to continue to expand and to continue our work with children with autism. We would like to further develop Rainbow School's role as a centre of excellence by increasing the range of our services to providing more training, early intervention and outreach programmes. YTD Raised: £10,931.67The Yerbury Discovery Playground Project, YDPP, is an exciting initiative led by pupils, staff, parents and carers at Yerbury Primary School in Islington, North London. Collectively, we have set ourselves the ambitious task of redeveloping our tired and out-dated playground through innovative, collaborative design for the benefit of our school and our wider community. To fund our new vision we need to raise £250,000. Over the past year the entire school has participated in a consultation process, which has delivered an inspiring masterplan for transforming the playground areas into a series of outdoor zones for discovery, play, creativity and learning. We are now hard at work staging fundraising events and initiatives and talking to funders about how they can help us to realise the Yerbury Discovery Playground Project. The focus of our next fundraising drive will be the Mind & Muscle zone which is costed at £50,000. The Yerbury Discovery Playground Project (YDPP) is the latest and largest fundraising initiative to be launched by the Yerbury Home School Association (YHSA). YTD Raised: £10,143.39In 2013 the staff of Pound Gates and Sevatas started to support an Ipswich based charity called Kenyan School Fund. The Fund was running a school in Mombasa with the desire to build a new school in Nyiera, western Kenya. During 2014 the businesses organised two events specifically to raise funds for this new school and in November 2014 building of the school commenced. In January 2015 we established The Soma Leo Foundation and registered it with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Soma Leo took on the responsibility to raise the funds necessary to establish the school, invest in further phases of development and meet its ongoing running costs. Soma Leo is Swahili. It translates as “learn today”. The name has in part been selected by the community we will initially be supporting. The school is called Soma Leo Nyiera Academy. Following a Trustee visit to Kenya in September 2015 we have identified additional priorities to support other schools near Nyiera, in an area called Osieko, and generally help the wider community which suffers with severe poverty. Directors, managers and staff at Pound Gates and Sevatas are involved with the charity either as Trustees or by providing all the administrative resources the charity requires. Its aim is to assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school by engaging in activities which support the school and promote the education of the pupils. All parents of the school are automatically members of CHIPTA. What this means in practice is that CHIPTA undertake a variety of fund raising activities for the school, which not only raises much needed funds to enrich the school and the education of the children, but promotes a deep feeling of community and a fun environment for both parents and children. Examples are Christmas and Summer Fairs, Adult and Children Disco and Film Nights, Mobile Phone and Cartridge Recycling and many other activities. Projects funded from past money raised include: Adventure Playground upgrade including non slip safety surfaces and paths; Refurbishment of swimming pool changing rooms; Providing recyclable water bottles for every child; Storage sheds; Garden improvements to enrich the childrens' outdoor teaching experience; and Murals for a quiet area in the playground.

Its primary purpose is to ensure that those of real ability (and whom it believes can succeed) are not precluded from coming to the Bar by a lack of financial resources. The principal criteria for awarding scholarships are the quality of the applicant and his/her commitment to the principles of independent practice. All scholarships are awarded on merit. Once identified as a scholar of the Inn, the amount awarded is tailored to ensure that significant assistance is given to those able students most in need. Middle Temple interviews every single applicant for a scholarship and, uniquely, always takes account of means when assessing the value of any scholarship awarded. The Inn believes that it has a track record of funnelling the money where it is most needed and to people, regardless of their background, who will ultimately be a credit to the profession and the administration of justice.
