Kent Union (UK, 1138210) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,641.15

We're the students' union at the University of Kent and we're a charity led by students for students. Our ultimate aim is to improve the student experience at the University and to help students reach their full potential upon graduation into the wider world; that's why we've set up a number of services to ensure that we can make this happen. We run an advice service, job shop, a cafe, nursery, print shop and a number of bars and retail outlets. All profit generated by our commercial services is reinvested into helping our students, but unfortunately this often falls short of the amount we need to undertake new projects. Interest in taking part in our sports clubs, societies, community volunteering and student media continues to grow. This year alone our student volunteers managed to clock 103,964 hours (that's well over half a million pounds if they were paid minimum wage). With cuts to 3rd and public sector funding, the work our volunteers do has become even more important. From storytelling with school children and organising environmental campaigns to running a sports club or society, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Your donation would help us to attract new volunteers, increase student engagement in projects and build valuable skills among the future workforce. Being a not for profit organisation, we rely on generous donations so our volunteers can continue their work in the local community, and we can improve our support for students on campus. We hope that you will find our projects interesting and want to support them; thank you in advance for any donation you would like to give, it's much appreciated and will go a long way in helping us achieve our fundraising mission.
