The Friends of Bishop Gilpin (UK, 1060709) Browse events

YTD Raised: £3,050.00

The Friends of Bishop Gilpin (FOBG) exists purely in order to raise money for the school, to fundraise for things that cannot be paid for from the school’s own budget. Our aim is to provide items that enhance the experience of a child at school and, where possible, we prefer to buy things that are accessible to the widest number of children, an inclusive rather than exclusive approach. If you would like to make a donation at any time you can do so here. From our fundraising, contributions are also made to our sister school in Mabale, Zimbabwe, and other chosen charities such as Faith in Action, a local Wimbledon charity for the homeless, and Motor Neurone Disease. Walking for More Words, Saturday, 10th May 2014 If you would like to raise a fundraising page for this event please click on the 'Events' button to the left.  Or you can make a donation to FOBG at any time. Thank you for your support. As of Monday 5th June 2014 we have raised £625 through this page! Together with postal donations of £940 we have raised a grand total of £1,565.00. Well done and thank you to everyone that took part and donated. Fantastic. Well done everyone!

Kent Union (UK, 1138210) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,641.15

We're the students' union at the University of Kent and we're a charity led by students for students. Our ultimate aim is to improve the student experience at the University and to help students reach their full potential upon graduation into the wider world; that's why we've set up a number of services to ensure that we can make this happen. We run an advice service, job shop, a cafe, nursery, print shop and a number of bars and retail outlets. All profit generated by our commercial services is reinvested into helping our students, but unfortunately this often falls short of the amount we need to undertake new projects. Interest in taking part in our sports clubs, societies, community volunteering and student media continues to grow. This year alone our student volunteers managed to clock 103,964 hours (that's well over half a million pounds if they were paid minimum wage). With cuts to 3rd and public sector funding, the work our volunteers do has become even more important. From storytelling with school children and organising environmental campaigns to running a sports club or society, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Your donation would help us to attract new volunteers, increase student engagement in projects and build valuable skills among the future workforce. Being a not for profit organisation, we rely on generous donations so our volunteers can continue their work in the local community, and we can improve our support for students on campus. We hope that you will find our projects interesting and want to support them; thank you in advance for any donation you would like to give, it's much appreciated and will go a long way in helping us achieve our fundraising mission.

The Prince's Teaching Institute (UK, 1116224) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,595.00

The Prince’s Teaching Institute is an educational Charity which raises ambition and challenge in state schools by providing professional development for teachers. The PTI believes that all children, irrespective of background or ability, are entitled to be taught by teachers who are passionate and knowledgeable about their subjects.  It promotes the idea that subject knowledge, subject rigour and enthusiasm for teaching are essential requirements for effective teaching.  Most of us remember a teacher at school who made a difference, who got us excited about what they were teaching us or who moulded/directed us to where we are today. At the Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) we believe that an inspired and knowledgeable teacher makes for an inspired pupil and our programmes and events refresh teachers subject knowledge and remind them that it was a passion for the subject they teach that motivated them to join this vital profession in the first place.   Where in many professions (e.g. medicine, law, and accounting) professional development is mandatory, teachers have no such requirement.  The PTI provides continuing professional development and ongoing support that nurtures and motivates teachers, but this doesn’t come cheap and to continue our good work we need your help. Show you care about the future of this country by investing in educating the next generation.
