(UK, 1049963) Were running for school! We are a group of about 20 parents of Hotwells Primary School and we are working hard to get fit to run the Bristol 10k on May 9th 2010. Our biggest incentive (other than getting fit) is to raise as much money as we can for our school - so please dig deep and help us along with our training - Make a donation now. The PTA raises money for equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school. Hotwells PTA funds are for the ‘extras’ not provided by the school budget, that make our children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.

YTD Raised: £3,246.35Providence Row is a homeless charity tackling the root causes of homelessness to help people get off, and stay off, the streets. Last year, around 1,500 people used our services. Working with people to build skills and confidence is the key to success. We do this through our trainee schemes, language classes and employment support. The support we provide for mental health and addiction issues helps people to rejoin the community. We also help people to return to their home communities and families, in the UK and abroad.

The skills and experience they gain in England will transform the lives of countless Palestinians when they return home. We have no paid workers or administrative expenses so every penny you donate is guaranteed to go to supporting Palestinian students. Each scholarship costs us £12,000 in living costs, travel expenses and visa fees. Durham University generously grants each of our students a tuition fees scholarship worth an additional £12,000. In 2012-13, we will offer 3 scholarships. Help us to bring hope to people who often think that the world has forgotten them and help to invest in their future.

We are committed to sustainably improving education standards in Cambodia and promote local participation, management, responsibility and ownership across all of our programmes. We train teachers, develop school infrastructure and support local families educating their children in Cambodia - a country that has been ravaged by war, genocide, repression and starvation. Cambodia is a country of immense beauty and warm people, but the pain of its recent history lies not far beneath the surface. The legacy of the Khmer Rouge remains a constant factor in the day-to-day lives of everyday Cambodians, with its impact clearly felt in the education system. Cambodia also continues to struggle to meet its population’s basic needs. Faced with extreme poverty, nearly half the children living outside the main cities do not complete primary school. We work to enable more children to complete their basic education and progress from primary to lower secondary school, through both better quality and access to education. SeeBeyondBorders delivers three integrated programmes that have been developed out of recognition that the challenges to Cambodia’s education system are multi-dimensional, and solutions will require a holistic intervention approach. Our programmes are: 1. Teach The Teacher 2. Getting To School 3. Better Schools Our primary focus is in the rural areas of Battambang and Siem Reap provinces. In each case, our Teach the Teacher programme forms the lead initiative and is supported by our Better Schools and Getting to School programmes according to individual School Development Plans and community needs. Presently we work in over 65 schools with approximately 360 teachers in our programme who teach and educate more than 12,200 children.
