The Parent Staff Association (PSA) aims to provide financial support to the school to support the children's learning and playing environments and experiences. We try to make sure that every child, regardless of their financial circumstances, gets to enjoy the diverse learning experiences that our school has to offer. From Bikes for Juniors, where children can learn to ride a bicycle at school, to spending a day-long history lesson dressed as Victorian school children at the Ragged School Museum. In addition to funding plays, trips, excursions and sports equipment, in the past few years we have also focused on funding a 'Forest Schools' outdoor classroom and a dedicated sports coach for the school. Our key objective this year is to provide funding for the school to buy and install new playgound equipment following recent building works and the future school expansion. Your donations help us to continue our work. Thank you!

(UK, 1135392) Browse eventsPlanting Promise operates in Sierra Leone with one primary objective; to provide free, high quality education to as many people as possible. We like to think we take an innovative approach to charity and instead of relying solely on charitable donations, we have established our own sustainable agricultural businesses. The profits from these businesses go to funding our schools. We currently run 7 rice plantations, pay our workers a very good wage and look after them well. A proportion of the profits we receive from selling the rice are ploughed (excuse the pun) back into the businesses, and the remainder goes to running our schools. We currently have 5 schools across Sierra Leone, which educate nearly 1,000 students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to go. Our operations are expanding nicely but your donations are crucial to our success. We need to expand to provide employment, training and education in a sustainable manner to as many people as possible, and your donations will help us achieve this.

As well as providing a holistic approach to developing the child, the school provides a good quality education, food, clothing and medical care. Small class sizes ensure that every child is given individual attention. Banunule is a model school and the focus of the community and many events take place at the school to which neighbours are invited. It is also where training and courses take place for visiting teachers. The Mission Statement of the BSSG is: To advance the education and well-being of the pupils at Banunule Primary School for Orphans and underprivileged Children in Kisugu, Kampala, Uganda. In recent years thanks to the work done by the BSSG, a nurse has been employed and a clinic created, the library has grown, a new playground has been built, and the classrooms, dining hall and kitchen have been refurbished. Projects this year alone have included the construction of a security wall to keep the school safe and to keep the squatters on the adjacent land from encroaching on the school property, and funding towards a new water purification project to give the children safe water for drinking and cooking. Banunule children are encouraged to choose appropriate vocational career paths. One former pupil is currently training to be a doctor, another is about to commence nursing training and others have qualified as water engineers, plumbers, carpenters, cooks, printers, IT technicians and tailors.
