The Busoga Trust is a UK based water, sanitation & hygiene charity. Working mainly in Uganda we have constructed over 2000 safe water sources since 1982 (providing clean, safe drinking water to an estimated 1,000,000+ people) along with providing improved sanitation facilities and hygiene/health education. After air, nothing is so important to the survival of life on Earth as water. Diarrhoeal disease, caused through unsafe water and poor sanitation, is the second largest cause of death amongst children under-5 globally. Furthermore, where it doesnt kill, it severely hampers economic development through lost time in school and employment. In Uganda, according to the WHO, only 64% of the rural population have access to safe water. When you think that 87% of the population lives in rural areas, this means that vast numbers of people are in daily contact with deadly and debilitating diseases. As a service provider, we actually do the work on the ground. We are not a middleman. Therefore donors can rest assured that the money they donate is actually going towards the cost of providing valuable, sustainable health interventions. We may be small, but we work hard to make the most of what resources we have. Your support will make a real difference to rural Uganda. The Severn Rivers Trust is an independent charitable environmental organisation established to secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of the rivers, streams, watercourses and waterbodies in the Severn catchment. We are working in the Severn Uplands area on a variety of projects including education of young people, habitat creation and environmental protection. We know that streams and rivers are intimately connected to the landscapes they drain and the valleys and communities through which they flow. Our vision is to have living, working landscapes that deliver employment, food and amenity without impacting on rivers and biodiversity, and without the need for heavy regulation and supervision.
