(UK, 1024806) Browse eventsThe International Fund for Animal Welfare works to improve the welfare of wild and domestic animals throughout the world by reducing commercial exploitation of animals, protecting wildlife habitats and assisting animals in distress. IFAW seeks to motivate the public to prevent cruelty to animals and to promote animal welfare and conservation policies that advance the well being to both animals and people. IFAW was founded on, and remains at the forefront of, the campaign to ban commercial seal hunting in Canada as well as a long-term commintment to end the commercial killing of whales. Elephants are threatened by habitat loss, conflict with humans and ivory poaching. We are determined to reverse these disturbing trends to ensure there is always a place for elephants on our planet. We are also working to guarantee that all wild animals have the protection they need from the trade in, and consumption of, animal products. Our Animal Rescue teams strive to relieve animals from pain and suffering during natural and man-made disasters and we bring care and treatment to thousands of cats and dogs in some of the world’s poorest communities. IFAW’s Animal Action Education programmes empower young people and communities to take positive action for animals. In the UK, IFAW was instrumental in achieving the ban on hunting with dogs with the introduction of the Hunting Act and we continue to lead the way in ensuring its effective enforcement. We are part of 'Team Badger' campaigning to prevent next year's proposed badger cull in England. Every fundraising event and donation made is crucial to make sure that this important work for animals can continue.

(UK, 1148478) Browse eventsChange For Animals Foundation (CFAF) is an organisation committed to promoting compassion towards all animals and ending animal suffering. CFAF works to support and inspire positive change for animals around the world in partnership with local animal protection groups and an international network of animal welfare specialists. CFAF has chosen the route of partnership and co-operation and is already working collaboratively with international and local groups to create real change for animals. Transforming the lives of animals in various countries requires local knowledge and understanding of the culture from within the community, but many animal welfare groups find it difficult to access the resources and the strategic support they need. However, through working partnerships with groups around the world, CFAF can provide input in terms of expertise, research and other resources, so that positive change for animals can be delivered at both the policy level and on the ground. By working with organisations that are embedded in communities where animal welfare problems lie, CFAF will show that the lives of both people and animals can be improved when animals are protected, effecting true and lasting change.

We have a love and a passion for dogs and we will work alongside other organisations, enthusiasts, breeders, professionals and the general public, to educate owners, reduce rescue, reduce irresponsible breeders, put an end to puppy farming and reduce the number of dogs that are being needlessly destroyed in the UK! We are politically active towards this end and also rescue, rehabiliate and rehome dogs. We have a non-destruct policy and since September 2004 have found forever homes over 1,000 dogs and reunited almost 800.

Mountain rescue in the UK is free of charge to the casualty but we rely on the support and generosity of the public to maintain this valuable community service. Without you, we simply could not function. There are several ways you can support the work of the DARTMOOR RESCUE GROUP. It costs a tremendous amount to fund a mountain rescue team, one vehicle alone costs upwards of £35,000. But there is also a very large overhead in the running and replacement costs for items such as rope, which must be replaced after a given time, even if they have not been used. It costs about £30,000 a year to run the team and every penny you give goes to help mountain rescue teams of the DARTMOOR RESCUE GROUP
