ALTA aims to provide support and information to liver transplant patients and their families before, during and after liver transplantation. It was formed in 1991, with the blessing of clinicians, by patients who recognised the need for a group of this sort and is a registered charity, number 1115971. The special bond between patients who have undergone transplantation enables them to give each other a particular kind of support and understanding. This complements the counselling given to transplant recipients and their families by doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. ALTA is a positive vehicle for encouraging more people to become donors to allow others in the future to receive the same precious gift, for which we all give thanks daily.

Rather stupidly we've decided that we are fit enough to run a half marathon on behalf of the Transplant Patients Trust. There are approx. 20 people running (some willingly, some un-willingly) but they have decided to do it for a good cause. Earlier this year we helped the family of a very poorly little girl who has been awaiting a heart transplant since January of this year. Her family, unable to leave her side had no choice but to give up work and consequently are struggling financially. We helped. Without the kind generosity (and sacrifices) of our runners and you the people supporting us we would be unable to provide this kind of help. Please give generously - whatever you can. Any amounts will be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks The Transplant Patients Trust xx
