Vula Amehlo Trust (UK, 1098877) Browse events

YTD Raised: £970.00

Vula Amehlo Trust is a small UK charity. We are currently focusing our efforts on raising funds for the work of Pasture Valley Orphanage and Children's Home in Nhlangano, Swaziland. Pasture Valley provides a safe home for over 40 children, supports over 220 children in the local community and acts as a training centre for other homes in Swaziland. The Trust has provided money for education, health care, building of an education centre and other building upgrades/repairs, computer equipment and many other resources and living costs. We also support the work of Dr. Jono Pons, Eye Surgeon, at Good Shepherd Hospital, Swaziland. The Trust has provided essential medical equipment, funded cataract surgery for those too poor to find the hospital fees and has paid for redundant (but still very useful) NHS equipment to be shipped to Swaziland. This has allowed many to have their sight restored - transforming them from total dependence to independence.

Friends Of The Himalayan Children's Care Home (UK, 1138828) Browse events

YTD Raised: £920.67

Friends of HCCH was registered as a small UK charity in 2010. The Himalayan Childrens Care Home in Pokhara, Nepal was established in 2006. There are now 51 children from the poorest families from the remotest parts of Mustang. Mustang is geographically isolated with harsh weather conditions and survival there is often a tough challenge. The aims of the care home, which is run by an ex-Buddhist monk and three other full time members of staff, are to provide basic amenities of life to the children and to provide them with education, health care, spiritual knowledge and skills training. Raising awareness of humanitarianism and preserving their dwindling Tibetan culture is also important. These children have very little in terms of material possessions but are full of love and care for each other and any one who visits or volunteers to help. They are happy and eager to learn and appreciate anything that anyone does to help them. They are truly inspirational in this ever increasing materialistic world. Their website is www.hchmustang.org The money raised helps with sustainability by contributing on a regular basis to food, water and clothing costs and also to school fees. Two of the trustees have visited the home and one has returned annually. 100% of money raised goes directly to the home.

YTD Raised: £858.30

"The Rooprai Spinal Trust is invaluable, providing support, hope and friendship when you need it the most"    JD (partner was paralysed from the shoulders down in 2011) Always an infectious, bubbly and positive person, Marrianne’s character has never wavered. Inspired by his long term partner during one of his daily visits to the spinal unit, Marrianne’s partner Andy decided they should start a trust.  A trust that would not only mirror Marrianne’s desire for progress, but a trust that would help her to reach goals and ultimately help others who have been affected by the devastation that spinal cord injury brings. In 2005 The Rooprai Spinal Trust was born, a completely voluntary organisation. Today we offer 'scholarships' to others with Spinal Cord Injury to participate in active based physio and Marrianne's progress continues to inspire many.
