YTD Raised: £277.50The West Midlands CARE Team is a group of volunteer doctors and nurses who provide advanced pre-hospital medical care to seriously injured and critically unwell patients across the West Midlands. We bring a highly skilled medical team to the patient, capable of providing life saving interventions at the roadside. The CARE Team looks after critically ill patients including those severely injured in car crashes, industrial incidents, shootings and stabbings, through to adult and child cardiac arrests and those others with serious medical problems, such as heart attacks, fits, and breathing problems. Working alongside the West Midlands Ambulance Service, the CARE Team aims to deliver hospital care at the scene of the incident. By bringing our additional skills, equipment, drugs and surgical procedures to the patient we aim to save lives and improve patients’ outcomes.

YTD Raised: £235.00Mylo’s Fund provides grants to families who have experienced a stillbirth (from 16 weeks gestation) or a neonatal death. We are currently running two grant schemes. The first supports parents by covering the cost of a fully funded headstones for their baby. The second enables parents to apply for private bonding scans during subsequent pregnancies. As a charity, we want to make a difference to families who have been rocked by stillbirth. It goes without saying that when you lose a baby, you also lose a piece of your heart. But there are many other factors that affect you as a family during this time. Like many other grieving families, our financial situation suffered due to loss of earnings during the early weeks and months. Suddenly, you are no longer considering the costs of pushchairs and baby grows, but instead the costs of headstones and memorials for your baby. These costs can be mammoth, and of course completely unexpected. This, teamed with loss of earnings due to grief can leave parents feeling unable to mark their baby’s existence in the way they would like to. This in itself can be utterly heart breaking. After experiencing stillbirth or neonatal death, a subsequent pregnancy can be absolutely terrifying. Parents often find themselves making many trips to hospital for extra reassurance scans, monitoring and consultant appointments. Parents often find that bonding with their unborn baby can prove difficult due to anxiety and fear. Private scan clinics are more accessible, often have better availability, and allow special moments to bond with your unborn baby. But, of course these come at a cost. This is where we hope Mylo’s Fund can help. Quality of life and independence is hugely important in order to retain as much dignity as possible this is much easier if the care and equipment is in place. Unfortunately the specialist care and wheelchairs are not funded under the NHS and over the age of 18 the funds need to be found by the individual and their family. We aim to relieve the stress by helping to fund these services in order to assist their independence and to improve possible outcomes.We are currently fundraising by being the first team to embark on an unadapted Trek across the Sahara Desert with a member in a wheelchair. We are doing this to show that disability does not mean inability and that barriers can be overcome its just a different challenge.
