Based in Halewood, Merseyside, we are a growing social enterprise. Listening Ear is one of only two organisations in the whole of Merseyside accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. We offer the following services: Listening and counselling for adults living in Knowsley or registered with a Knowsley GP. Listening and counselling for 16 to 25 year old's living anywhere in the North West of England. An award winning activity-based therapy service for children and young people aged 11 to 17 living anywhere in the North West of England and younger children aged 6 and upwards who live in Knowsley or who have a Knowsley GP. A Retain counselling service for Knowsley residents at risk of losing their employment due to work-related mental health issues such as anxiety or stress. We also run a monthly Friendship After Bereavement (FAB) Group that can offer support from those who have experienced the loss of a loved one first hand.

Supporting people of any age with caring responsibilities. South Lakeland Carers is a local independent registered charity (Charity No: 101 7463), covering the South Lakes area of Cumbria. In addition the organization is a network member of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers within the UK. Services and support is currently offered to around 700 people with caring responsibilities. Needs are assessed through the formal Carers Assessment process. SLC is contracted by Cumbria County Council to conduct these assessments on behalf of the local authority. Support is offered to both adult and young carers representing an age range form 5 years upwards. In response to needs a number of services may be offered: Contingency Planning, Relaxation Therapy , Counselling, on-going support form a Carer Support Worker, support groups in various locations, a weekly drop-in, monthly lunch club, away days and training. Almost all services are provided free of charge to carers.

We try to enable service users to play the fullest possible part in the communities in which they live. We work in partnership with clients to ensure their right to make choices is preserved. We are also striving to reduce the debilitation, alienation, stigma and social isolation experienced by vulnerable people living in rural areas. Our work includes group work based at our Shrewsbury premises and also at venues in Ludlow, Whitchurch, Bridgnorth and Market Drayton, with the aim of establishing additional groups across the county. Shropshire Mind has an established and trained volunteer base and a small number of paid staff who run specific projects. The charity has a board of trustees who meet as the Executive Committee and of those trustees there are elected officers – Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

The therapy is free for clients but we are not funded by the NHS. On the other hand, the NHS does acknowledge the benefits that holistic therapy provides to aiding relaxation & improving sleep patterns.
