Our clients are often highly traumatised and our range of counselling and advocacy services provide a life line for some of the most vulnerable and at risk members of our society. We have a fantastic team of dedicated staff and volunteers who do a truly wonderful job. Sadly though funding our work is often difficult and we rely on grants and donations to help us. Any donations we receive are very welcome and we ensure that every donation we receive goes towards services for our clients. Please help us to contiune our work and to give hope to others. Thank you.

Lifecentre is a Sussex based charity providing help to child and adult survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their families. A quarter of those we help are under 18, the youngest just 5 years old. Sexual abuse has a devastating effect on lives. Over half of our clients think regularly of suicide; two thirds are depressed. A significant number self harm or over-eat in an attempt to make themselves less attractive; others turn to drugs or alcohol to block out painful memories. Not surprisingly normal daily routines become difficult or impossible. There are no quick fixes, but healing does come with expert help and time. We see survivors able to sleep again, returning to employment, school, their hobbies and families; survivors getting justice through the courts; survivors transforming their shame and despair into purpose for life. Referrals for counselling have risen every year since we started in 2001. In 2013 we expect to have over 350 referrals and get over 14,000 calls, texts and emails to our helplines. We do all this for less that £250,000 a year - roughly the cost to society of three rapes. Less than 10% of these costs are met by government grants. Thank you for your support which will make a real difference. * Please note that the registered address is not the location of our offices and counselling rooms which are all in a confidential location. Mail can be safely sent to this registered address for collection, however.

Shared Lives South West is a fantastic award winning regional charity operating in Devon and Cornwall since 2004. Through our network of over 250 amazing families we support people with a learning disability, older people, people with dementia, people with mental health problems and vulnerable parents. We are passionate about what we do, and we only do Shared Lives. Shared Lives services are all about our Shared Lives carers sharing their lives, their home, their interests, and their caring skills and experience with other people who need some help and support to live their lives to the full. People share all aspects of home and family life and are supported to be active in their local community, whether on a on full time basis or for respite and short breaks. Its a unique and very personal sort of social care which focusses on what the individual wants and needs. Our Shared Lives carers are amazing and always go the extra mile for the people they support, and create opportunities and experiences for disabled and vulnerable people they otherwise just might not get. Shared Lives works because it is based on friendship, love, caring and sharing. It works because it gives people a life not a limited care service and it works because our carers see it as a way of life, not just a job and do this work because they love to see the huge difference they can make to someone's life. Shared Lives South West is very proud of all our carers and is here to support them in their amazing gift of sharing their home and family life with others.

The Organisation was formed in 1983 to establish a forum that would serve as a focus for the development of services for people who experience mental illness within the communities of Lanarkshire. Until 1989, much of our activity was within the Hamilton/Blantyre area where we provided supported accommodation and developed an early vision of dispersed day care. Since then, there has been steady growth in our services and we currently provide community based support services throughout all of Lanarkshire. Employment opportunities have also been developed to explore pathways to employment for people who wish to pursue work related activity. The Organisation now employs approximately 75 staff, a mixture of full, part-time and bank staff, and also involves volunteers to do specific pieces of work depending on local need. Our funding comes mainly from contract agreements with North and South Lanarkshire Council with the central management/administration costs funded through Management Fees levied on each service. Senior Managers contribute to the organisation through a small management team and we have been developing opportunities for all staff to contribute to the success of the organisation through inter-team working groups and an inclusive communication strategy. We are committed, in the long term, to a gradual and qualitative improvement in the focus and delivery of our services. We are committed to a staff training programme which is geared towards SVQ training to meet the Regulation of Care requirements. The Organisation was again re-accredited with Investors in People Award in December 2009, first achieved April 2001, which endorses our commitment to staff development. The Organisation is governed by a Board and supported by local Advisory Groups and consultation groups with service users/carers taking all places on the latter groups and service users at least 50% of places on the Board. We are committed to the meaningful participation of developing and providing quality support services in partnership with people who experience mental health difficulties, their carers and other agencies.

Angels is a parent led voluntary organisation set up in North Hertfordshire to support parents and carers of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Our work is based on the simple premise that if parents get support and friendship from another parent, they will be better equipped to learn to cope with the many difficulties life can bring, and will be able to give their children the best possible start in their own lives. Through a network of trained parent volunteers we support families who are not coping as well as they would like. Families need support for many different reasons including postnatal illness, disability, bereavement, mental health, parenting or social isolation. Our support is tailored, personalised, non judgemental and delivered to families in their own homes and through social activities. All our volunteers are DBS checked and attend an eight week training course which covers issues such as confidentiality, safeguarding and working with families. We always need new volunteers and all our volunteers have parenting experience. We support our volunteers with ongoing training and regular supervision. Our volunteers give just 2 hours per week of their time and their travel expenses are paid.
