Hi everyone, and thank you for your interest in Basingstoke Counselling Service. We were established over 20 years ago by a group of qualified counsellors as a way of providing access to a counselling service for those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.We are now a team of 32 in all with 22 counsellors, all fully trained and qualified who volunteer their time to provide valuable counselling to those who need help and can benefit positively so that they may return to a full and happy life. We offer a discreet and friendly service where client confidentiality is our number one priority Last year we delivered over 2,500 counselling hours to clients although we receive no direct funding from any statutory or public bodies, and over 80% of our clients are referrals from local GP surgeries as at present there is no NHS provision in the north of Hampshire for counselling. They do this because of our excellent reputation and professional service. So, as you can see your help is really vital for us to continue to deliver the wonderful support we give to those who come to us seeking help with a range of issues including, work place stress, depression, financial difficulties, relationship issues, bereavement, substance and alcohol dependency and all forms of abuse. It is only through donations that we are able to sustain the valuable work we do and with the added benefit of Gift Aid, you pledge will go even further. Thank you for taking the time to read about the wonderful service we provide to the community, and a big thank you from all of us for you help.

We aim to make the 'invisible illnesses' of mental health matter. Our charity was founded after our founder's son, Charley, ended his life after battling with mental health illnesses for some years. There are increasing numbers of young people needing support with their mental health and we are passionate about supporting them and promoting well being and resilience for the young people and their families in our communities. We think that it's important to give young people tools to support their mental health but also to be able to access support in a timely fashion in whatever way suits them - so this will include email or text counselling. We want to help remove the stigma attached to mental health and ensure people have a voice. Speak up - don't struggle alone!
MAP’s aim is to help young people to have better, healthier lives, to overcome barriers to realising their potential. Our vision is that all young people will know what it is to be valued; that they will have the support and information they need to make a successful transition to adulthood. Advice Our advice team gives specialist advice on practical things that might affect young people, such as welfare rights, employment, education and training, money and debt, housing and homelessness, sexual health, being a parent and developing strong family relationships. With the right advice, young people are more likely to find secure housing, successful personal relationships and employment or training opportunities that meet their needs, interests and skills. Counselling MAP’s counsellors and youth mental health workers work with young people to overcome personal problems they might be experiencing. We offer crisis counselling across Norfolk, where young people can talk privately in quiet, safe places about issues affecting their well-being. With your support, we can offer more counselling sessions to more young people, helping them find immediate relief, to work through what's troubling them and prevent longer-term mental health issues from developing. Youth Work Our team of Youth Workers deliver activities and events for young people to enable them to develop new skills, increase their confidence, meet new people and have a greater role in shaping what is happening in their community. Through informal learning and personal development, young people develop a sense of belonging and aspiration. Your support will enable us to give more young people the opportunity to realise their potential.
