Staines Shopmobility is an independent registered charity based on the Two Rivers shopping centre in Staines. The charity provides mobility equipment to enable people with limited mobility to independently access essential services, such as shops, banks, opticians, libraries and social / recreational facilities, within the town of Staines. The service promotes an equality of opportunity and community involvement amongst the beneficiary group. It also improves confidence, health and mental welfare amongst service users who would otherwise be left isolated from the community and dependent on others to shop and access services for them.Research has shown that 90% of Shopmobility users would not be able to fully access Staines town centre without the service. This can lead to increased isolation; reduced independence and affect people’s health and general well-being. The charity has been helping people access the town centre since 1998 and has been used over 45,000 times since opening its doors. Income from donations and fundraising events enable us to continue providing this vital service

We are a charity that helps families with children under the age of 5. Sometimes being a parent can be difficult – parents can feel exhausted and overwhelmed by everyday family life and additional stresses. Our friendly and caring volunteers are all parents themselves and therefore understand the joys, frustrations and challenges of bringing up children. A volunteer visits a family at home once a week for 2-3 hours offering time, friendship, support, encouragement and practical help for as long as is needed. Our volunteers are all different ages and come from all walks of life but they are there to do one thing – offer a friendly helping hand to parents with young children. - See more at: http://www.homestartrichmondshire.org.uk

HOUSE OF LIGHT House of Light offers help, support, advice and information for women and their families who are affected by antenatal (A/N) and postnatal depression (PND). We are based in Hull and offer support locally and nationwide. We are a not for profit registered charity. Our services are offered by qualified counsellors some of which have had personal experience of mental health issues. We offer: Our one to one support mostly takes place at House of Light's premises. For women who are affected by agoraphobia, a fear of open spaces or leaving their house (which is sometimes a feature of PND) we are able to offer home visits locally. Peer support has been proven to be an effective treatment for women with this illness and in some cases preventing depression occuring postnatally. We offer peer support or counselling and women are free to choose which aspect of support they need. Our email and text support allows women to come forward relatively anonymously. Due to the nature of the subject and the taboo that still needlessly surrounds depression, a large amount of women are still afraid to come forward and seek the help that they need and deserve. SomeOne Cares is a not for profit organisation who offer FREE one to one counselling to male and females aged 11 years plus who have been affected by abuse and its related issues, working with survivors aswel as their supporters! SomeOne Cares was set-up in 1989 by two women who wanted to provide more help for those affected by sexual abuse. The name comes directly from clients in those early days as they would often say, “It’s good to know someone cares.” We provide individual counselling to those affected by abuse. We feel this is the most effective way of helping people come to terms with their issues, as each person is affected in their own individual way. Over 20 volunteer counsellors dedicate time to SomeOne Cares .In 2008 we were honoured when Philippa Tomson agreed to become our patron. We have helped hundreds of clients to lead a more effective life, and over 40 former volunteers have gone on to take up paid work in the caring professions the past 5 years.Throughout the years we have tried to provide a service that recognises that abuse is a difficult area of care, one which cannot be hurried as the issues involved are so complex and usually very difficult for the client to work with. Often we are working with clients who have been neglected by the care system or with people who have little faith in the statutory services.
