YTD Raised: £95.00

Together is a national charity working alongside people with mental health issues on their journey to leading fulfilling and independent lives. We aspire to a world where each individual can play their part in breaking down the barriers that exist around mental health through ignorance and lack of understanding. We believe that people with mental health issues benefit from leading their own lives and shaping the services they receive. We promote our conviction that the best mental health services are delivered in partnership with the people we work alongside. By working intensively with each and every person, focusing on their hopes and needs, we can support them in building a positive and meaningful future for themselves - however long it takes. Who we are: Today we work with around 4,000 adults a month, the majority of whom are building a positive future for themselves whilst living with complex and recurring mental health issues. Together has around 100 different projects providing a variety of services. We support people on their own journey towards mental wellbeing - helping them with aspects of life getting a place to live, finding work, making friends, building self-esteem and playing an active role in their community. Together does this through providing a range of services to meet the different needs of people with mental health issues. Including residential support, day services, advocacy & work in courts and probation services

YTD Raised: £90.00

Making a difference to rural communities throughout SuffolkWe exist to help rurally isolated people in Suffolk to access services and information to improve their lives, health and wellbeing. To bring people together within communities to create local support mechanisms. This is a free service that is accessible to everyone. Why the community needs this charity Our project provides an innovative solution to the real problem of rural isolation. Loss of services in rural communities can leave residents without any means of connecting with each other, this can lead to low mood and loneliness. Accessing information is almost impossible in these situations. Our project creates a social focus with a free mobile community cafe/information centre, which offers support and the chance to meet and talk with fellow residents in the same situation. Results and outcomes Starting in 2003 as a voluntary organisation, with just one small caravan, demand for our project service has caused our project to grow enormously. We are now a registered charity with two caravans and a mobilitiy bus visiting around 80 rural communities each year. We now also run Golden Age Fairs, these alone have lead to over 1000 individuals that have been linked into services that have improved their health and wellbeing. Bedford Open Door (UK, 1053008) Browse events

YTD Raised: £70.00

Bedford Open Door offers an accessible, confidential and free professional counselling service to young people aged between 13 and 25 living in Bedfordshire. Our aim is to enable young people to manage their own lives with confidence and safety. Fully qualified, professional counsellors deliver the service. Established in 1995, Bedford Open Door is a registered charity based in central Bedford. Local people including GPs, Social Workers, Youth Workers, parents and those working within the education system recognised the need for a counselling service for young people. A board of local, experienced Trustees oversee the provision of the service. The service delivery team is formed from fully qualified volunteer counsellors whose work is supervised by a team of experienced professional supervisors. The day to day delivery of the service is co-ordinated by a Project Manager, Counselling Manager and a number of receptionists, all working part time. In 2008 we purchased a 5 bedroom residential property, 120 Tavistock Street, Bedford. In 2009 the building was transformed into a purpose built community counselling facility. In October 2011 Bedford Open Door gained British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy accreditation. The BACP service accreditation offers a kitemark standard that emphasises safe, competent and efficient service provision. Bedford Open Door has had to provide robust evidence of service quality and professionalism. Here are a few comments from clients on the impact counselling has made in their lives. "As a client at BOD I was able to confront my issues head on. I received great care and compassion from my counsellor” "I felt like it really helped me and people said they noticed a difference in me since I started going” "I feel my life has changed so much thanks to my counsellor and the work we have done. I would like to thank her very much." Our small, local charity needs additional funding to continue with this vital work.
