SAGE Greenfingers (UK, 1114743) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

SAGE Greenfingers supports adults with mental health needs via social therapeutic horticulture and arts activity in a beautiful allotment space inner-city Sheffield. Our beneficiaries may experience anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychoses, schizophrenia or other disorders, often combined with chronic physical health problems and acute social isolation. Typically they find more conventional mental health services such as face-to-face counselling or group therapy too challenging. But working in a natural, outside environment on tasks that combine the mental with the physical, social and even spiritual can work wonders. People generally attend groups once a week and for many it has been an absolute life-saver and the 1st step on the road to recovery. Mental health problems affect one in 4 of us and many slip through the net of mainstream health services. We catch such people and support via robust therapy with a light touch in a stunning outdoor space. Men and women of all ages and many ethnicities speak movingly on how our support has put them on a road to recovery when they were on the brink of despair. YTD Raised: £0.00

The SMILE Group was set up by mums in Macclesfield for families who are struggling after the birth of their child or who have Postnatal Depression. The charities main aims are to provide support to those suffering or affected by postnatal illness and to increase awareness and education of the illness to both the public and health professionals. The SMILE Group runs every Wednesday in Congleton and every Friday in Macclesfield between 10am and 12pm. The charity is now strategically managed and co-ordinated on a day-to-day basis by four mums; Natalie, Ruth, Caroline and Sue, who all had very different experiences of PND and, having benefitted from the support provided by the group, wanted to make a difference. The charity works closely with other PND charities and organisations to provide a joined-up approach. We also offer virtual support on a global level via our social media channels Facebook & Twitter. We’re a not for profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness of postnatal depression, stamping out the stigma and above all, providing support to those affected by the illness.  We receive no government funding yet fill a vital gap of peer support for families affected by PND. Without the valuable support you provide, we simply would not be able to do this.

Young Onset Group Associates (UK, XT35934) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

There are more than 17,000 younger people with dementia in the UK. However, this number is likely to be an under-estimate, and the true figure may be up to three times higher. The Young Onset Group are a group of people who care for our loved ones, all of whom have Early Onset Dementia. We were constituted in 2007 by the Admiral Nurses as a self- support group for people with Dementia under the age of 65 years and their carers. We realised that the interests and experiences of people under the age of sixty-five were often different from those of older people and so our activities are planned accordingly. Previously we have enjoyed trips to: the theatre, seaside, Chill Factor, canal trips, meals out, T’ai Chi, reflexology and ten-pin bowling. We meet once a month at Thicketford House (Bolton BL2 2LW) from 1pm. until 3pm. to plan our activities, chat and support one another. We also have regular coffee mornings a variety of locations. No one is obliged to leave the group when they reach the age of 65 or asked to stop attending the meetings and activities when their loved ones are unable to come. Carers and cared for are welcome from Bolton and all surrounding areas. There are no fees to pay. If you would like more information, members from our group would be only too pleased to visit you to give you more details. So if you enjoy a good laugh, would like time in the company of others who understand your situation please email: [email protected]
